Vicki Risch
Vicki Risch is the former first lady of Idaho and the wife of U.S. senator Jim Risch, who served as governor of Idaho in 2006. She became first lady on May 26, 2006, when her husband succeeded former governor, Dirk Kempthorne, who resigned to become United States Secretary of the Interior. Risch succeeded former first lady, Patricia Kempthorne, who had held the post for over seven years. Jim Risch
James Elroy Risch ( ; born May 3, 1943) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the junior United States senator from Idaho since 2009. A member of the Republican Party, he served as lieutenant governor of Idaho under governors Dirk Kempthorne and Butch Otter and as the 31st governor of Idaho from 2006 to 2007. Raised in Milwaukee, Risch moved to Idaho in the early 1960s. After graduating from the University of Idaho, he received a B.S. degree in forestry in 1965 and earned a J.D. in 1968. Afterward, he taught criminal law at Boise State University, and in 1970 was elected as Ada County prosecuting attorney. In 1974, he was elected to the Idaho Senate, where he represented the 21st legislative district from 1974 to 1988. In 1995, Governor Phil Batt appointed Risch to represent the 18th legislative district; he held the position until 2002. Patricia Kempthorne (born November 1, 1953) was the First Lady of Idaho from 1999 to 2006 as the wife of Governor Dirk Kempthorne. As first lady she was active in issues affecting children and families in Idaho and took the lead in assisting state government with children's policy. She is a former First Lady of Boise, Idaho (1986–1993). In March 2006, President George W. Bush nominated Governor Kempthorne to be the United States Secretary of the Interior. Lori Otter (née Easley; born January 4, 1967) is an American educator, author, and former beauty queen who served as First Lady of Idaho from 2007 to 2019. Otter is married to the former Governor of Idaho, C. L. "Butch" Otter. She was crowned Miss Idaho USA in 1991. Career Otter won the Miss Idaho USA title in 1991 and represented Idaho in the Miss USA 1991 pageant broadcast live from Wichita, Kansas in February 1991. Dirk Arthur Kempthorne (born October 29, 1951) is an American politician who served as the 49th United States Secretary of the Interior from 2006 to 2009 under President George W. Bush.
