Vicente Paulo Da Silva
Vicente Paulo da Silva (born 8 April 1956) more commonly known as Vicentinho is a Brazilian politician as well as a syndicalist and trade union president. Although born in Rio Grande do Norte, he has spent his political career representing São Paulo, having served as federal deputy representative since 2003. Personal life Vicentinho is the son of Francisco Germano da Silva and Maria Jeronimo da Silva. Prior to entering politics he was the head of syndicalist organization in São Paulo and was the president for 36 years of a trade union called "Central Única dos Trabalhadores" (CUT) that campaigned for wage equality. Political career Vicentinho voted against the impeachment motion of then-president Dilma Rousseff and political reformation. He would later vote in favor of opening a similar corruption investigation against Rousseff's successor Michel Temer, and voted against the 2017 Brazilian labor reforms. Chamber Of Deputies (Brazil)
The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. Syndicalism is a revolutionary current within the left-wing of the labor movement that seeks to unionize workers according to industry and advance their demands through strikes with the eventual goal of gaining control over the means of production and the economy at large. Developed in French labor unions during the late 19th century, syndicalist movements were most predominant amongst the socialist movement during the interwar period which preceded the outbreak of World War II. Major syndicalist organizations included the General Confederation of Labor in France, the National Confederation of Labour (CNT) in Spain, the Italian Syndicalist Union (USI), the Free Workers' Union of Germany, and the Argentine Regional Workers' Federation. João Antonio Felicio
João Antonio Felicio (6 November 1950 – 19 March 2020) was a Brazilian trade unionist. Born in Itapuí, Felicio became a butcher at the age of fifteen, but then trained in the arts and in 1973 became a teacher of drawing. In 1977, he first took part in protests by teachers against the military dictatorship, and was soon elected to its organising committee. He also joined the Movement for the Emancipation of the Proletariat. In 1980, Felicio was a founder of the Workers' Party (PT). The following year, he was elected to the board of the State Education Teachers' Trade Union of the State of São Paulo (APEOESP), and this led him in 1983 to become a founder member of the Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT). In 1987, he was elected as president of the APEOESP, and his time in office encompassed an 82-day strike in 1991 which led to teachers' salaries more than doubling. Jair Meneguelli
Jair Antonio Meneguelli (born 16 July 1947) is a Brazilian politician and former trade union leader. Born in São Caetano do Sul, Meneguelli studied at the Colégio Barão do Rio Branco before becoming a toolmaker. He found work with Willys Overland, which soon became part of Ford of Brazil. In 1977, he joined the Metalworkers' Union of São Bernardo do Campo and Diadema, and the following year he took part in a major campaign for wage increases. Through this, he came to know Lula, and Meneguelli was a founder member of the Workers' Party (PT) in 1980. In 1981, Meneguelli became president of the Metalworkers' Union, after Lula had been removed from office by the government. Two years later, he took it into the new Central Única dos Trabalhadores (CUT), and at the first CUT congress, in 1984, he was elected as its president. Central Única dos Trabalhadores ( en, Unified Workers' Central), commonly known by the acronym CUT, is the main national trade union center in Brazil. History CUT was formed on 28 August 1983 in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, during the First National Congress of the Working Class. Alongside the Workers' Party (PT) and the Landless Workers' Movement (MST), CUT was one of the key organizations to challenge the military rule of 1964–1985 during its final stages, organizing strikes in automobile factories located in the ABC Region.
