Vicente Iturat
Vicente Iturat Gil (22 August 1928 in Alcalà de Xivert – 18 August 2017 in Vilanova i la Geltrú) was a Spanish professional road cyclist. A sprinter, Iturat won the Points classification in the 1957 Vuelta a España, as well as four stages of the Vuelta a España throughout his career. He also competed in multiple editions of both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France. He also notably won the Euskal Bizikleta stage race in 1953. Alcalà De Xivert
Alcalà de Xivert (; es, Alcalá de Chivert ) is a town and municipality in the Baix Maestrat comarca, province of Castelló, Valencian Community, Spain. Geography The main town is located inland in a flat valley between the two mountain ranges of Serra d'Irta and Serra de les Talaies. There is no river in the valley; instead, the water emerges in natural ponds known as ''basses''. History Its castle occupied a strong position for the control of the routes along the Mediterranean coast. Here stood a Moorish castle (the name of the town derives from Arabic ''al-qalat'' = "the castle") that was captured by James I of Aragon in 1234, who also resettled the place with Christian villagers. On 30 August 1905, scientists came from all over the world to Alcalà de Xivert to watch a total solar eclipse which covered an area from the coast of North Africa to the North-East of Spain. Volta A Catalunya
The Volta a Catalunya (; en, Tour of Catalonia, es, Vuelta a Cataluña, link=no) is a road bicycle race held annually in Catalonia, Spain. It is one of three World Tour stage races in Spain, together with the Vuelta a España and the Tour of the Basque Country. The race has had several different calendar dates, running before in September, June and May. Since 2010 it has been on the calendar in late March as part of the UCI World Tour. Raced over seven days, it covers the autonomous community of Catalonia in Northeast Spain and contains one or more stages in the mountain region of the Pyrenees. The Vuelta a Andalucía (Tour of Andalusia) or Ruta del Sol (Route of the Sun) is a regional Spanish road bicycle race first held in 1925. Since 2005, it has been a 2.1 category race on the UCI Europe Tour. The race became a part of the new UCI ProSeries in 2020.
