Vibeke Engelstad (née Smidt; 27 April 1919 – 8 July 2004) was a Norwegian physician and specialist in psychiatry. Sandefjord
Sandefjord () is a city and the most populous municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The municipality of Sandefjord was established on 1 January 1838. The municipality of Sandar was merged into Sandefjord on 1 January 1969. On 1 January 2017, rural municipalities of Andebu and Stokke were merged into Sandefjord as part of a nationwide municipal reform. This merger was the first one to take place during the reform. Kristian Smidt
Kristian Smidt, OBE (20 November 1916 – 9 August 2013) was a Norwegian literary historian. Biography Smidt was born in Sandefjord as a son of bishop Johannes Smidt. His doctor thesis from 1949 was a treatment of the work of T. S. Eliot. He was appointed professor of English literature at the University of Oslo from 1955 to 1985. Among his publications are works on James Joyce and on the composition of Shakespeare's plays. Smidt also researched on text problems in Shakespeare, with special focus on ''Richard III''. He has authored several books analyzing the works of several famous writers. His works included ''The Diverse Shakespeare'' (2000), ''Ibsen Translated'' (2000, which examines the English translation of '' A Doll's House'') and ''Silent Creditors'' (2004). Sigurd Engelstad
Sigurd Engelstad (2 August 1914 – 16 January 2006) was a Norway, Norwegian genealogist and archivist. Engelstad was born at Hadsel in Nordland, Norway. He was the son of jurist Sigurd Engelstad (1878–1916) and older brother of writer Carl Fredrik Engelstad. Through Carl Fredrik, Sigurd was the uncle of professor Fredrik Engelstad. Sigurd Engelstad published several genealogical works, and was a co-editor of the journal ''Norsk slektshistorisk tidsskrift'' from 1960 to 1975. Carl Fredrik Engelstad
Carl Johan Fredrik Engelstad (11 November 1915 – 1 October 1996) was a Norwegian writer, playwright, journalist, translator and theatre director. Personal life Engelstad was born in Hadsel as the son of jurist Sigurd Engelstad (1878–1916) and younger brother of archivist Sigurd Engelstad. He married Vibeke Engelstad, a physician. Their son Fredrik became a professor of sociology, and married professor Irene Johnson. Career Carl Fredrik Engelstad was hired as a theatre critic in ''Morgenbladet'' in 1945. He stayed here until 1960, the last two years as cultural editor. He was theatre director for Nationaltheatret from 1960 to 1961, and from 1965 he worked in ''Aftenposten''. Johannes Smidt
Johannes Smidt (19 November 1887 – 15 May 1973) was a Norwegian theologian and priest in the Church of Norway. He served as the Bishop of the Diocese of Agder from 1951 until 1957. Personal life Smidt was born on 19 November 1887 in Herad municipality in the far southern part of Norway. He was the son of the priest, Edvard Dahl Smidt and his wife Valborg Hannestad. In 1914, Smidt married Jofrid Grimstvedt. He died on 15 May 1973 in Oslo, Norway and he was buried on 21 May 1973 at the Ullern Church where he worked for many years. His daughter is Vibeke Engelstad and his son is Kristian Smidt. Education and career Smidt graduated with a cand.theol. degree in 1912. He was the secretary for the ''Norges kristelige studentforbund'' (Norwegian Christian Student Union) from 1912 until 1914. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old.
