Viação Aérea Arco-Íris S.A. was a Brazilian airline founded in 1945. Flight operations ceased in 1948. History Arco-Íris was founded in March 1945 and the first flight was operated on July 12, 1946 between São Paulo-Congonhas and cities within the states of São Paulo and Paraná, being the first carrier to serve Londrina. Due to financial problems the airline ceased operations in 1948. It was later sold to a group of entrepreneurs from Rio Grande do Sul, who moved its head-office to Caxias do Sul, right on the main operational area of Varig. For this reason, the new owners had extreme difficulty in establishing operations. Finally in 1950 Arco-Íris had its operational authorization cancelled. It was at this airport that on January 7, 1961 TAM – Táxi Aéreo Marília, the forerunner of TAM Airlines (rebranded LATAM Brasil) started its operations as a company specialized in general aviation. On July 15, 2021, the concession of the airport was auctioned to Rede Voa, under the name Consórcio Voa NW e Voa SE. The airport was previously operated by DAESP. The de Havilland DH.89 Dragon Rapide is a 1930s short-haul biplane airliner developed and produced by British aircraft company de Havilland. Capable of accommodating 6–8 passengers, it proved an economical and durable craft, despite its relatively primitive plywood construction. Developed during the early 1930s, the Dragon Rapide was essentially a smaller, twin-engined version of the four-engined DH.86 Express, and shared a number of common features, such as its tapered wings, streamlined fairings and Gipsy Six engines.
