Viagra Boys
Viagra Boys is a Swedish rock band from Stockholm. The band was formed in 2015, with several members coming from the bands Les Big Byrd, Pig Eyes, Nine, Nitad, and Neu-Ronz. In 2018, they released their first album, '' Street Worms''. Nils Hansson, a journalist at the newspaper ''Dagens Nyheter'' described the band favorably, praising their musical style, as well as their use of black humor and satire, and rated the album a five out of five. In 2019, the band won the Independent Music Companies Association (IMPALA) Album of the Year Award for ''Street Worms''. The band's second album, '' Welfare Jazz'', was released in January 2021 and their third album, ''Cave World'', was released in July 2022. Post-punk
Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of punk music that emerged in the late 1970s as musicians departed from punk's traditional elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Inspired by punk's energy and DIY ethic but determined to break from rock cliches, artists experimented with styles like funk, electronic music, jazz, and dance music; the production techniques of dub and disco; and ideas from art and politics, including critical theory, modernist art, cinema and literature. These communities produced independent record labels, visual art, multimedia performances and fanzines. Sleaford Mods are an English post-punk music duo, formed in 2007 in Nottingham. The band features vocalist Jason Williamson and, since 2012, musician Andrew Fearn. ''Cave World'' is the third studio album by Swedish post-punk band Viagra Boys. It was released on 8 July 2022, through YEAR0001. Background and recording ''Cave World'' was written during the COVID-19 lockdowns, which serves a basis for much of the album, particularly with songs referring to hesitancy to COVID-19 vaccines. The album also was influenced by the origin of humans during the Paleolithic era (particularly cavemen), conspiracy theories, especially conspiracy theories and misinformation related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and QAnon supporters.
