Lodovico Grossi da Viadana (usually Lodovico Viadana, though his family name was Grossi; c. 1560 – 2 May 1627) was an Italian composer, teacher, and Franciscan friar of the Order of Friars Minor Observants. He was the first significant figure to make use of the newly developed technique of figured bass, one of the musical devices which was to define the end of the Renaissance and beginning of the Baroque eras in music. Life He was born in Viadana, a town in the province of Mantua (Italy). According to a document dating from about 150 years after his death, he was a member of the Grossi family but took the name of his birth city, Viadana, when he entered the order of the Minor Observants prior to 1588. Though there is no contemporary evidence, it has been claimed that he studied with Costanzo Porta, becoming choirmaster at the cathedral in Mantua by 1594. Gilberto Viadana
Gilberto Viadana (born 9 February 1973) is an Italian former figure skater. He reached the free skate at four European Championships, three World Championships, and two Winter Olympics (1992, 1998). Life and career Gilberto Viadana was born on 9 February 1973 in Milan, Italy. He placed 11th at the 1990 Junior Worlds in Colorado Springs, Colorado; 14th at the 1991 Junior Worlds in Budapest; and fifth at the 1992 Junior Worlds in Hull, Quebec. At the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, Viadana placed 19th in the short program before withdrawing from the competition. He finished 23rd at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan. He was the first Italian skater to complete a triple Axel jump in competition. After ending his competitive career, Viadana became a coach in Milano. Viadana Rugby
Rugby Viadana 1970 is an Italian rugby union club based in Viadana (province of Mantua, Lombardy). The club was established in 1970, and has since won the Italian championship in 2002, and the Coppa Italia three times. They also compete in European rugby competitions and were runners-up in the European Shield in 2004. Viadana plays in yellow and black. The club did not compete professionally between 2010 and 2012 as they focused their efforts on Aironi. Aironi was based at Viadana's home ground and represented a number of regional teams in the multi-national Celtic League. The FIR withdrew Aironi's licence to play at the end of the 2012, so Viadana reformed as a professional team will play in Italy's top division, the National championship of Excellence, from the 2012–13 season and currently in the Top12.
