Vi Maler Byen Rød
"Vi maler byen rød" (; "We're painting the town red") was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989, written by Søren Bundgaard (music) and Keld Heick (lyrics) and performed in Danish by Birthe Kjær. The English version of the song is called "I'm Chasing Butterflies". The song was performed twelfth on the night, following 's Park Café with " Monsieur" and preceding 's Thomas Forstner with " Nur ein Lied". At the close of voting, it had received 111 points, placing 3rd in a field of 22. It was succeeded as Danish representative at the 1990 Contest by Lonnie Devantier with " Hallo Hallo", with lyrics also by Keld Heick. The song qualified as the Danish entry into the Eurovision Song Contest by the usual means of winning that year's Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. Birthe Kjær
Birthe Kjær (born 1 September 1948) is a Danish singer. She finished second at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 1980, 1986 and 1987, before winning in 1989, and went on to finish third at the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest in Lausanne. She also finished third at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 1991. Denmark was represented by Lonnie Devantier, with the song "Hallo Hallo", at the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 5 May in Zagreb. "Hallo Hallo" was chosen as the Danish entry at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix on 24 March. The Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the 49th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, following the country's victory at the with the song "Everyway That I Can" by Sertab Erener. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), the contest was held at the Abdi İpekçi Arena, and, for the first time, consisted of a semi-final on 12 May, and a final on 15 May 2004. Tomas Thordarson (born 1974) is a Danish- Icelandic singer, he won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2004 with the song " Shame on You". The song finished thirteenth place at semifinal and Denmark failed to qualify. Musical career Thordarson started his musical career at Blaagaard Statsseminarium. Hot Eyes was the name adopted for international acts by the Danish singing duo known in their home country as Kirsten and Søren. It was formed by Kirsten Siggaard Andersen (born 7 September 1954 in Slagelse) and Søren Bundgaard Nielsen (born 4 March 1956 in Glostrup). Biography Kirsten was brought up in a traditional Christian family who sang in a church choir when she was young and later pursued a career deemed appropriate and desirable, working in a bank, where she met her husband, Jorgen. Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (), also known as Melodi Grand Prix or simply DMGP, is an annual music competition organised by the Danish public broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR) since 1957, which determines the for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners and fourteen top-five placings.
