Vi Jordan
Ellen Violet Jordan (née Perrett; 29 June 1913 – 7 May 1982) was an Australian politician. She was the second woman elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly, and the first representing the Labor Party. Early life Jordan was born in Ipswich to James Berties Perrett and Anne Jane Jordan, ''née'' Brown. She attended Brassall State School and then Ipswich Girls' Grammar School before earning a Diploma of Education and becoming a schoolteacher. On 14 June 1932 she married David Jordan, with whom she had two children. Politics Joining the Australian Labor Party in 1946, Jordan was a delegate to the Labor-in-Politics Convention in 1956. She was the inaugural president of the Women's Central Committee Queensland from 1956 to 1967 and secretary of the Ipswich Labor Party Executive from 1958 to 1965. Irene Longman
Irene Maud Longman (; 24 April 1877 – 29 July 1964) was an Australian community worker and politician. She was Women and government in Australia, the first woman elected to the Parliament of Queensland, representing the Queensland Legislative Assembly seat of Electoral district of Bulimba, Bulimba from 1929 to 1932 as a member of the Country and Progressive National Party (CPNP). Longman was born in Franklin, Tasmania, to a Christian minister; her brothers Percy Bayley, Percy and James Bayley (politician), James were also members of parliament. She was educated in Sydney and trained as a kindergarten teacher, later moving to Queensland where she married Heber Longman. The couple settled in Brisbane where she became involved in various community organisations relating to education and women's rights. Traditionally, publication in the gazette was a legal requirement for an announcement to be official; however, in present times, other methods of communication have replaced some aspects of the gazette's role. It is normally published weekly, but extraordinary editions can be published in between the regular weekly issues if there is an urgent need. Jordan is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created in the 2017 redistribution. It was named after politician Vi Jordan, second female Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Based on the area between Ipswich and Logan, Jordan consists of the suburbs of Gailes, Carole Park, Camira, Brookwater, Augustine Heights, Springfield, Greenbank, New Beith, Lyons and Undullah. From results of the 2015 election, Jordan was estimated to be a safe seat for the Labor Party with a margin of 13.5%.
