''Veta'' () is a 1986 Indian Telugu-language period action film starring Chiranjeevi, Jaya Prada and Sumalatha. It was released on 28 May 1986. The film was made by Samyuktha Movies, whose earlier blockbuster was '' Khaidi''. The movie is based on Alexandre Dumas' 1844 novel ''The Count of Monte Cristo''. The successful team of director A. Kodandarami Reddy, composer K. Chakravarthy and writers Paruchuri brothers was repeated in this movie as well. Plot Set in 1939, Pratap (Chiranjeevi) is a sailor working on a ship during the British rule of India. He is in love with a wealthy woman, played by Jaya Prada. Jaya Prada's cousin (బావ) Jayaram, who works for the British army, also wants to marry her. When the captain of the ship (C. S. Rao) is poisoned and killed by two of the crew members, Jayaram uses his power to twist Benarjee (Ranganath) and deports Pratap away for good at the secluded Andaman Jail. Jaggayya
Kongara Jaggayya (31 December 1928 – 5 March 2004) was an Indian actor, littérateur, journalist, lyricist, dubbing artist and politician known for his works predominantly in Telugu cinema and Telugu theatre. He was known as ''Kanchu Kantham Jaggayya'' (Telugu) for his booming voice. In a film career spanning forty years as a matinee idol, he starred in eighty films, as a lead actor, and lead antagonist in a variety of genres. Rajasri (writer)
Indukuri Ramakrishnam Raju (31 August 1934 – 14 August 1994), populary known by his pen name Rajasri, was an Indian lyricist, screenwriter, film director, and music composer in Telugu cinema. He has worked on nearly 1000 films, a majority of them are dubbed films. He was popularly referred to as ''Anuvaada Brahma'' (). He used to pen Telugu lyrics for most of the films dubbed from Tamil in the 1980s and early 1990s. Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry
Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry (born Chembolu Seetharama Sastry; 20 May 1955 – 30 November 2021) was an Indian poet and lyricist known for his works in Telugu cinema and Telugu theatre. He acquired the stage name Sirivennela after writing the lyrics for K. Viswanath's directorial film of the same name in 1986. Jaya Prada Nahata (born Lalitha Rani; 3 April 1962) is an Indian actress and politician. Sumalatha (born 27 August 1963) is an Indian actress, politician who is the current Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Mandya, Karnataka. She has acted in more than 220 films in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Hindi. Veturi Sundararama Murthy (29 January 1936 – 22 May 2010), known mononymously by his surname Veturi, was an Indian poet, lyricist and journalist who is popular for writing Telugu songs.
