Geography Vešter is an old clustered village east of Trnje along the road from Škofja Loka to Železniki. It stands on the left bank of the Selca Sora River with the settled area in the Vešter Plain ( sl, Veštrsko polje), and Puštal Hill and Cavrn Hill rise north of the settlement. Name ''Vešter'' was attested in historical sources as ''Obernwester'' in 1291, ''Westreden'' in 1421, ''Westert'' in 1481, and ''Bestrad'' in 1500. The name ''Vešter'' is shortened from German ''Obernwester'' (literally, 'upper Vešter'). Vester Hassing
Vester Hassing is a Danish town in North Jutland, Denmark immediately north of the Limfjord, and a part of Aalborg Municipality and Region Nordjylland. The town is situated 17 km to the east from Aalborg, where the majority of the citizens are working. Vester Hassing lies in a hilly moraine landscape between the villages, Stae and Gandrup. The church dates from c. 1200 AD. Vester Hassing had a strong growth in the 1970s, where among others a great part the towns residential areas were built. After some years with stagnation in population, the town experienced growth after year 2004, when new homes were built. Since then commerce has grown and new residential areas have been developed. Since 2001 there has been a music festival held each year called Limfjordsfest, where both local and foreign artists appear. Vester Flanagan
On the morning of August 26, 2015, news reporter Alison Parker and photojournalist Adam Ward, both employees of CBS affiliate WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia, United States, were fatally shot while conducting a live television interview near Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta. They were interviewing Vicki Gardner, executive director of the local chamber of commerce, when all three were attacked by a gunman. Parker, age 24, and Ward, age 27, died at the scene, while Gardner survived. The gunman was 41-year-old Vester Lee Flanagan II, a former reporter at WDBJ who had been fired in 2013 for disruptive conduct. After a five-hour manhunt, Flanagan shot himself during a car chase with police officers and died later at a hospital. Vester Pegg
Vester Pegg (May 23, 1889 – February 19, 1951) was an American actor of the silent film era. He appeared in 140 films between 1912 and 1941, mainly Westerns. He was born in Appleton City, Missouri and died in Los Angeles, California. Pegg became a picador in 1909, working in a bull ring in Mexico City. He left that job after a bull charged and killed the horse on which Pegg was riding. He moved to California, where he began acting in stock theater. After 18 months of acting on stage, he began acting in films, eventually signing with Universal Pictures, where he worked with Harry Carey's company. Viestards
Viestards (also ''Viesthard, Vesthardus, Viesturs''; died 1230) was one of the greatest Semigallian dukes in the 13th century, referred to as King Vester ( goh, konic Vesters). Life His capital was Tērvete hillfort. During the first decades of the 13th century he was allied with the Livonian Brothers of the Sword against Lithuanians, who looted Semigallia on several occasions. In 1205, joint forces of semigallians and crusaders defeated Lithuanians and killed duke Žvelgaitis. In 1208 Viestards led a united Semigallian and crusader army into Lithuania but was heavily defeated. In 1219 Viestards came into conflict with German bishop Albert when German crusaders placed their garrison in Semigallian castle of Mežotne. Viestards unsuccessfully attacked Mežotne but managed to defeat the reinforcement of crusaders coming on Lielupe river after that crusaders left Mežotne. Frederic Vester (November 23, 1925 – November 2, 2003) was a German biochemist, and an expert in the field of ecology. Biography Vester was born in Saarbrücken, and studied chemistry at the universities of Mainz, Paris and Hamburg. From 1955 to 1957 he was postdoctoral fellow at Yale University and Cambridge. From 1957 to 1966 he worked at Saarland University, Saarbrücken, and from 1969 he worked in Munich, first at the Max Planck Institute. In 1970 he founded the private Munich-based ''Frederic Vester Studiengruppe für Biologie und Umwelt GmbH'' ("Frederic Vester Study Group for Biology and Environment, Ltd.), renamed ''Frederic Vester GmbH'' ("Frederic Vester, Ltd.") after his death.
