Vert (heraldry)
In classical heraldry, vert () is the tincture equivalent to the colour "green". It is one of the five dark tinctures (''colours''). The word ''vert'' is simply the French for "green". It is used in English in the sense of a heraldic tincture since the early 16th century. In Modern French, ''vert'' is not used as a heraldic term. Instead, the French heraldic term for green tincture is ''sinople''. This has been the case since c. the 16th century. In medieval French heraldry, ''vert'' also meant "green" while ''sinople'' was a shade of red. Vert is portrayed by the conventions of heraldic "hatching" (in black and white engravings) by lines at a 45-degree angle from upper left to lower right, or indicated by the abbreviation vt. when a coat of arms is tricked. The colour green is commonly found in modern flags and coat of arms, and to a lesser extent also in the classical heraldry of the Late Middle Ages and the Early Modern period. Green flags were historically carried by Ottokar ...

Vert (music Producer)
Vert (born Adam Butler, 1972, Portsmouth, England) is an English electronic music record producer who has been active since 1996. His music incorporates elements from various electronic genres (earlier drum and bass, subsequently glitch and idm), as well as other genres, such as jazz and hip hop. His first album, ''The Köln Konzert'', was a remix cover mash-up of Keith Jarrett's original album, ''The Köln Concert''. Recently he has moved to a more song-based sound, using his own vocals in songs that have similarities with Tom Waits and make use of ragtime piano and big band horns. History After a first 12", ''Broken Breakbeat Bebop'' on the Bovinyl label in 1996, Vert was picked up by the label Sonig, where he has been ever since. After living in several different cities in the United Kingdom, he moved to Cologne (Köln), Germany in 2001. Vert (sport)
Vert is a term used in extreme sports especially vert skating, vert skateboarding, snowboarding and BMX to denote a competition held on a vert ramp which allows the competitors to fly into the air and land back on the ramp. This time in the air allows the competitor to perform moves which would otherwise be extremely difficult. An example of this would be a flip, or a spin. The term itself comes from the word "vertical," the direction in which the competitor is moving after leaving the ramp. Ramps used in these events are usually vert ramps. Outside of competitions, the term ''vert'' is not normally used. Instead, the specific type of ramp is denoted. So instead of saying "I am going to go ride vert," one might say "I am going to go ride a half-pipe." However, it would be correct to say "in competitions, I usually ride vert," in order to differentiate from other forms of competition (such as freestyle, park or street). ESPN's X Games initially eliminated vert from its 2008 ...

The Greens (France)
The Greens (french: link=no, Les Verts, ; VEC or LV) was a centre-left to left-wing green-ecologist political party in France. The Greens had been in existence since 1984, but their spiritual roots could be traced as far back as René Dumont's candidacy for the presidency in 1974. On 13 November 2010, The Greens merged with Europe Ecology to become Europe Ecology – The Greens. History Early years Since 1974, the environmentalist movement has been a permanent feature of the French political scene, contesting every election: municipal, national & European. In the years following Dumont's challenge for the presidency, and prior to the formal confirmation of les Verts as political party, environmentalists contested elections under such banners as ''Ecology 78'', ''Ecology Europe'' and ''Ecology Today''. When, in 1982, ''the Ecologist Party'' merged with ''the Ecologist Confederation'', les Verts were born. Under the ideological guidance of Antoine Waechter, the party in 1986 si ...
