Vernon Canadians
The Vernon Canadians were a men's ice hockey team from Vernon, British Columbia that played in the Okanagan Mainline League or the Okanagan Senior League from 1949 to 1961. In 1962, after the Okanagan Senior League folded, the Canadians became a beer league team and then an “old timers” team that still plays today. The Vernon Canadians won the 1956 Allan Cup, becoming the national senior ice hockey champions. This made them Canada's representative for the 1957 World Ice Hockey Championships, but the tournaments was being held in Moscow, and western nations boycotted them in protest over the Soviet Union's invasion of Hungary in 1956. They were the Western Canada senior champion one more time, losing in the 1959 Allan Cup national finals to the Whitby Dunlops. Ice Hockey
Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. In ice hockey, two opposing teams use ice hockey sticks to control, advance and shoot a closed, vulcanized, rubber disc called a " puck" into the other team's goal. Each goal is worth one point. Hal Gordon

Doug McKay
Alvin Douglas McKay (May 28, 1929 – May 11, 2020) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He played one playoff game in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1950 Stanley Cup Finals, helping Detroit win the Stanley Cup, though his name did not appear on the Cup. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1947 to 1957, was spent in various minor leagues. He also won the Calder Cup with the Indianapolis Capitals of the American Hockey League in 1950, along with teammate Gordon Haidy. McKay and Chris Hayes are the only NHL players to play their only game in the Stanley Cup Finals. McKay died in May 2020 at the age of 90. Connie Madigan
Cornelius Dennis "Mad Dog" Madigan (born October 4, 1934) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenceman notable for being the oldest rookie in National Hockey League (NHL) history. Dennis was born in Port Arthur, Ontario. After playing several years in senior leagues in Ontario and British Columbia in the late 1950s, Madigan had a lengthy career as a minor league star, most notably with the Fort Wayne Komets of the International Hockey League for three seasons in the early 1960s, and then for the Portland Buckaroos of the Western Hockey League for nine seasons.
