Vermont Route 114
Vermont Route 114 (VT 114) is a north–south state highway in northeastern Vermont in the United States. It runs northward from U.S. Route 5 (US 5) in Lyndon until nearing the Canada–United States border in the town of Norton; thereafter, the road continues east to the New Hampshire state line in Canaan. The vast majority of VT 114 is situated within Essex County; however, the route also passes through small, isolated portions of Caledonia and Orleans Counties. Moose are most often encountered on four roads in Vermont, of which this is one. They are seen from East Burke to Canaan. Route description VT 114 begins at an intersection with US 5 and VT 122 in the town of Lyndon in northern Caledonia County. Lyndon is a town in Caledonia County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 5,491. Lyndon is the home of Lyndon State College. The town contains one incorporated village, Lyndonville, and four unincorporated villages: Lyndon Corner in the south, Lyndon Center in the center of town on the west side of Lyndonville, Little Egypt in the north, and East Lyndon in the southeast. Lyndon is the second-most populous town in the Northeast Kingdom; only neighboring St. Johnsbury is larger. It is also the fastest growing town in Vermont with a population over 5,000, growing 9.8% in the decade preceding the 2010 census. Warren's Gore is part of the Berlin, NH–VT Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Warren's Gore was originally chartered to be part of the town of Warren on October 20, 1789. The charter provided for two tracts of land, one which became the town and the other which became the gore. They were almost 100 miles from each other, on opposite sides of the state. Morgan is the easternmost town in Orleans County, Vermont, United States. The population was 638 at the 2020 census. The town contains two villages: Morgan and Morgan Center. Vermont Route 105 (VT 105) is a state highway located in northern Vermont in the United States. The route runs from U.S. Route 7 (US 7) in St. Albans in the west to the New Hampshire state line in Bloomfield in the east. The road continues across the state line as Bridge Street, a short unnumbered New Hampshire state route to US 3 in North Stratford, New Hampshire. Clyde River (Vermont)
The Clyde River is a tributary of Lake Memphremagog, over long, in northern Vermont in the United States. It is the easternmost of the four major rivers in Orleans County. It is the most powerful of the four within Orleans County, powering several turbines at damsites. It is part of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. It was named by one of the early surveyors from his partiality to a river of the same name in Scotland. Burke Mountain Ski Area
Burke Mountain Ski resort is a mid-size ski resort open to skiing and snowboarding in northeast Vermont (aka Vermont's "Northeast Kingdom" ). It is located on Burke Mountain and is home to Burke Mountain Academy, a ski academy. In May 2012, Burke Mountain Resort was purchased by the owners of nearby Jay Peak Resort. The new ownership has improved Burke's snow making capability. Burke Mountain Resort is a ski in/ski out resort that is positioned at the midway point of the mountain. Burke Mountain (Vermont)
Burke Mountain is a mountain located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The bulk of the mountain is in Burke and Kirby, Caledonia County, but its southeast side is in Essex County. It is flanked to the east and southeast by Umpire Mountain and Kirby Mountain, respectively. Burke Mountain stands within the watershed of the Passumpsic River. The northeast and northwest sides of Burke Mountain drain into Dish Mill Brook, thence into the East Branch of the Passumpsic River. The southwest end of Burke Mtn. drains into Mountain Brook, thence into the East Branch of the Passumpsic River.
