Verlag Ferdinand Schöningh is a German publishing house, founded in the 19th century by Ferdinand Schöningh. It is based in Paderborn. Paderborn (; Westphalian: ''Patterbuorn'', also ''Paterboärn'') is a city in eastern North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, capital of the Paderborn district. The name of the city derives from the river Pader and ''Born'', an old German term for the source of a river. Friedrich Wilhelm Weber
Friedrich Wilhelm Weber (25 December 1813 – 5 April 1894) was a German doctor, politician of the Prussian House of Deputies, and poet. Weber was born in Alshausen, near Bad Driburg, in Westphalia. His father was forester for the Count of Asseburg. Weber first attended the village school, then when thirteen years old he went to the Gymnasium at Paderborn, and afterwards studied medicine at the University of Greifswald. His talent for poetry had been evidenced at the gymnasium; at university, it grew. After spending two years at Greifswald he went to Breslau, where he became acquainted with Gustav Freitag. After a year, however, he returned to Greifswald, where he obtained a doctorate; thence he went to Berlin, where he passed the state medical examination with great honour. After a brief journey for recreation to southern Germany he settled as a physician in Driburg, where he spent twenty-six years. His practice as a doctor did not keep him from writing poetry. Luise Hensel
Luise Hensel (30 March 1798 to 18 December 1876) was a German teacher and religious poet, who influenced the romantic style of her friend and fellow poet, Clemens Brentano. Life Luise Hensel was the sister of Wilhelm Hensel and the sister-in-law of the composer Fanny Mendelssohn. She was born on March 30, 1798. Her father, Johann, was a Lutheran minister at Linum, a small town in the Margravate of Brandenburg, Kingdom of Prussia. After the death of her father, in 1809, Luise's mother with her son and three daughters returned to her hometown, Berlin. Maria Vespermann
Maria Vespermann Gorres Arndts (5 April 1823 – 22 May 1882) was a German composer, writer, and painter who sometimes used the pseudonym Carl Pauss. Her music was also published under the names Maria Gorres and Maria Arndts. Vespermann was born in Munich to the actor Wilhelm Vespermann and singer Clara Metzger Vespermann. She showed musical talent at an early age, and appeared in her first public concert when she was only 12 years old. Vespermann married the Catholic historian and poet Guido Görres in 1844. They had three daughters before Görres died in 1852. In 1860 she married jurist Carl Ludwig Arndts von Arnesberg in Vienna. Gorres' music was published by Aibl (now Universal Edition) and her prose was published by Verlag Ferdinand Schöningh.
