Verbolten
Verbolten is a Zierer multi-launching steel roller coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virginia. The concept was jointly designed by the park's creative design team and by Zierer of Germany. "Verbolten" is a play on words of the German word '' verboten'', which translates to "forbidden" in English. History Busch Gardens Williamsburg announced a renovation to the Oktoberfest section in October 2010. This included a now defunct drop tower named Mäch Tower, which opened the year after. The remodel also included a new multi-launch coaster with first-of-its-kind elements. In May 2011, the coaster's layout was made public during a James City County, Virginia board meeting. Busch Gardens Williamsburg (formerly known as Busch Gardens Europe and Busch Gardens: The Old Country) is a amusement park located in James City County near Williamsburg, Virginia, United States. Big Bad Wolf (roller Coaster)
Big Bad Wolf was a suspended roller coaster in the Oktoberfest section of Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Designed by Arrow Dynamics, the roller coaster opened to the public on June 15, 1984. The ride was in service for more than 25 years before closing permanently on September 7, 2009. The footers, queue line, and station were re-purposed for Verbolten, a roller coaster that was introduced in 2012. History Prior to the construction of Big Bad Wolf, Anton Schwarzkopf had designed a prototype ("Flying Coaster") for the park. Even though three-quarters of the new ride had been built, the ride was never completed, and was later completely scrapped. Busch Gardens then handed the contract to Arrow Dynamics. Zierer Karussell- und Spezialmaschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG (Short name: Zierer ) is a German company located close to Deggendorf. Zierer manufactures Tivoli and Force line of roller coasters, as well as panoramic wheels, wave swingers, flying carpets, ''Hexentanz'', and ''Kontiki'' rides. The company also has partnered with Schwarzkopf to build ''Lisebergbanan'' at Liseberg and ''Knightmare'' at Camelot Theme Park. Mäch Tower was a drop tower, located at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, in James City County, Virginia. Description Located in the park's Oktoberfest section, Mäch Tower's base was encircled by two concentric rings of pillars from which festive blue, orange, and red banners hang. The tower's bright color palette and signature flags were also mirrored on nearby restaurants, shops, and booths. The ride carriage itself featured a large, blue casing that was adorned with depictions of doves, crests, and festive designs that further exemplified the German theme. The queue line was located in a Bavarian-lodge style wooden covering that wrapped around the tower's base. Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is a multiple-launch steel motorbike roller coaster located at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade section of Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure theme park. ''Polar X-plorer'' is a steel roller coaster at Legoland Billund in Billund, Denmark. It opened on 29 April 2012 as Zierer's first coaster with a freefall drop track section. History On 11 October 2011, Legoland Billund announced that the park would open "Polar Land", a new area for the park. It features live penguins and a new restaurant. Ride experience After cresting the chain lift hill, riders go through a few twists and turns before entering an indoor section, where a scene of LEGO minifigures chipping away at an ice wall with picks can be seen. Suddenly, the floor beneath the minifigures gives way and the train vertically free-falls before exiting the indoor portion and going through more twists and turns before going back to the station.
