Verano De Escándalo (2001)
The 2001 ''Verano de Escándalo'' (Spanish for "Summer of Scandal") was the fifth annual ''Verano de Escándalo'' professional wrestling show promoted by AAA. The show took place on September 16, 2001, in Naucalpan, Mexico. The main event featured an eight-man "Atómicos" tag team match between the team of Canek, Zorro, Latin Lover, and Heavy Metal facing the team of Cibernético, Headhunter I, Electroshock, and Abismo Negro. Production Background First held during the summer of 1997 the Mexican professional wrestling, company AAA began holding a major wrestling show during the summer, most often in September, called ''Verano de Escándalo'' ("Summer of Scandal"). El Zorro (wrestler)
Jesús Cristóbal Martínez Rodriguez (born July 25, 1975) is a Mexican ''luchador'' (professional wrestler) who is best known as El Zorro. His gimmick started out very similar to the fictional character Zorro complete with mask, but in recent years it has evolved and the mask has been eliminated. He is best known for his work in the Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) promotion in Mexico, where he is a former AAA Mega Champion. He has in the past worked both in Europe, Japan and made a few brief appearances for the World Wrestling Federation show WWF Super Astros. He was the "Deputy leader" of the ''La Legión Extranjera'' faction headed by Konnan. In December 2012, Martínez was repackaged as La Parka Negra, the storyline nemesis of La Parka. Edgar Luna Pozos (born April 22, 1970) is a Mexican ''Luchador'' or professional wrestler best known under the ring name Electroshock, which he has used while working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) since 1997. Pozos is married to ''luchadora'' Lady Apache and is the brother of Luchador Charly Manson. As Electroshock Pozos has been a member of the groups Los Vipers, ''La Legión Extranjera'' and ''Los Wagnermaniacos''. Octagoncito (AAA)
Octagoncito (born March 23, 1973) is a Mexican ''Luchador'' '' enmascarado'', or masked professional wrestler who works for Lucha Libre AAA World Wide's (AAA) ''Mini-Estrella'' division. He is the second wrestler to work under the ring name Octagoncito, being given the name after the original Octagoncito left AAA, although he still wrestles under the name on the independent circuit. Octagoncito's real name is not a matter of public record, as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico where their private lives are kept a secret from the wrestling fans. Working in the Mini division does not necessarily mean that he has dwarfism, as several short wrestlers work in the "Mini" division. In professional wrestling, a face (babyface) is a heroic, "good guy" or "fan favorite" wrestler, booked (scripted) by the promotion with the aim of being cheered by fans, and acts as a protagonist to the heels, who are the villainous antagonist or "bad guy" characters. In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in '' lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. Not everything a heel wrestler does must be villainous: heels need only to be booed or jeered by the audience to be effective characters, although most truly successful heels embrace other aspects of their devious personalities, such as cheating to win or using foreign objects. Wrestling Mask
A wrestling mask is a fabric-based mask that some professional wrestlers wear as part of their in-ring persona or gimmick. Professional wrestlers have been using masks as far back as 1915 and they are still widely used today, especially in Lucha Libre in Mexico. History At the 1865 World's Fair, Theobaud Bauer debuted the mask, wrestling as "The Masked Wrestler" in Paris, France. He continued wrestling using the mask throughout France as part of a circus troupe in the 1860s before moving on to the United States in the early 1870s. In 1915, Mort Henderson started wrestling as the "Masked Marvel" in the New York area making him the first North American wrestler to perform with such a gimmick. Triplemanía XXI was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) produced by the AAA promotion, which took place on June 16, 2013, at Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico. The event was the 21st year that AAA held a Triplemanía and it was the 28th show held under the Triplemanía as AAA held multiple Triplemanía shows some years. Triplemanía XX was a professional wrestling event scripted and produced by the AAA promotion, which took place on August 5, 2012, at Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico. The event was the twentieth annual Triplemanía, which is AAA's biggest show of the year, and marked AAA's debut in the new Arena Ciudad de México. The event was headlined by a match between Dr. Wagner Jr. and Máscara Año 2000 Jr., where the loser was forced to unmask himself. In the semi-main event, El Mesías defended the AAA Mega Championship against the 2012 Rey de Reyes, El Hijo del Perro Aguayo. Antonio Peña Promotions, S.A. de C.V. d/b/a Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide is a Mexican Lucha Libre (professional wrestling) promotion based in Mexico City, Mexico.
