''Rogue Trooper'' is a science fiction strip in the British comic '' 2000 AD'', created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons in 1981. It portrays the adventures of a " Genetic Infantryman" named Rogue and three uploaded minds mounted on his equipment who search for the Traitor General. The series was rebooted in 1989 in the story "The War Machine", featuring a new version of the character called Friday. This version of the character last appeared in 1996. The original character returned in 1999 and all stories since then have featured the original Rogue. The character has also featured in a number of ''2000 AD'' crossovers. Publication history Gibbons left the strip early on to be replaced by a succession of artists and writers who have taken the strip in several different directions over the years. ''2000 AD'' is a weekly British science fiction-oriented comic magazine. As a comics anthology it serialises stories in each issue (known as "progs") and was first published by IPC Magazines in 1977, the first issue dated 26 February. Since 2000 it has been published by Rebellion Developments. ''2000 AD'' is most noted for its ''Judge Dredd'' stories, and has been contributed to by a number of artists and writers who became renowned in the field internationally, such as Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, Grant Morrison, Brian Bolland, Mike McMahon, John Wagner, Alan Grant and Garth Ennis. Brett Ewins
Brett Ewins (1955 – 16 February 2015) was a British comic book artist best known for his work on ''Judge Dredd'' and ''Rogue Trooper'' in the weekly anthology comic ''2000 AD (comics), 2000 AD''. Biography Ewins studied Conceptual Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, Goldsmiths College, where he was also taught fine art by Michael Craig-Martin. Ewins met future collaborator Peter Milligan at Goldsmiths, and left in 1977. In 1980, Ewins held a solo exhibition of his work at Frestonia's ''Car Breaker Gallery'' in London, a squat in Ladbroke Grove's Republic of Frestonia. Ewins formed a long-term collaborative partnership with fellow artist Brendan McCarthy who also showed at the Car Breaker Gallery, creating the comic ''Sometime Stories'', which faltered after the first issue leaving the second issue completed but unpublished. Stewart "Staz" Johnson is an English comic book artist and penciller, best known for his work on DC Comics' ''Robin'' and ''Catwoman'' series. Biography Johnson got his start working on magazines which covered the then-burgeoning fantasy role playing games industry. From there he got work at Marvel UK where he worked on weekly comic book series such as '' Transformers'' and ''Action Force''. During this period Johnson's first work was published in the US in Marvel Comics '' G.I. Joe European Missions'' in 1989; however this was not original work - the series reprinted his Marvel UK ''Action Force'' material. A flashback (sometimes called an analepsis) is an interjected scene that takes the narrative back in time from the current point in the story. Flashbacks are often used to recount events that happened before the story's primary sequence of events to fill in crucial backstory. In the opposite direction, a flashforward (or prolepsis) reveals events that will occur in the future. Both flashback and flashforward are used to cohere a story, develop a character, or add structure to the narrative. Tor Cyan
''Tor Cyan'' is a '' 2000 AD'' comic-book title written by John Tomlinson. It is a continuation of ''Mercy Heights'', which introduced the title character Tor Cyan as a futuristic 'ambulance driver'. In ''Tor Cyan'', Tor Cyan is the pilot of a medical shuttle, who despite the obstacles of destiny is determined to dedicate his life to saving life. Connections between Tor Cyan and the Genetic Infantrymen, and between his story and the same fictional universe as Nu-Earth, are revealed gradually over the course of the series. Tor Cyan finds it impossible to fully transcend his roots, and he becomes compelled to return to Nu-Earth and find out the truth about his past. Eventually, he discovers that his blue skin pigmentation is the product of the same genetic engineering used to create GI Supersoldiers. Steve White is a British comic book writer, paleoartist, and occasional colourist who has mainly worked with '' 2000 AD''. Career White's career in comics began in the 1980s at Marvel UK in London, where he worked in various roles on titles like '' The Real Ghostbusters'', ''Transformers'', ''Dragon's Claws'', ''Knights of Pendragon'' and '' The Sleaze Brothers''. Michael Fleisher
Michael Lawrence Fleisher (November 1, 1942 — February 2, 2018) was an American writer known for his DC Comics of the 1970s and 1980s, particularly for the characters Spectre and Jonah Hex. Biography Early life and career Fleisher was raised in New York City. His parents divorced when he was four years old, and Fleisher developed the foundation of his later Western writing by spending Saturdays with his visiting father at Western movie double features. "I saw two Westerns every Saturday for years," Fleisher recalled in 2010. "So it wasn't very hard to write esternsat all." John Smith (born 1967) is a British comic book writer best known for his work on the weekly anthology '' 2000 AD'' and its spin-off title ''Crisis'', particularly the ''Indigo Prime'', '' Devlin Waugh'' and '' New Statesmen'' serials.
