Ventura Unified School District
The Ventura Unified School District (VUSD) is a school district headquartered in Ventura, California, United States. The district serves students in Ventura and surrounding unincorporated communities of Ventura County including Saticoy, Casitas Springs, Oak View, and La Conchita. As of the 2019–20 school year, VUSD enrollment numbered 16,353 students. History In November 2020, the Ventura Unified School District Board of Trustees voted to change the name of Blanche Reynolds Elementary School to Lemon Grove School effective with the 2020–21 school year. Members of the community demanded the school's name be dropped because Reynolds, a school superintendent in early 20th-century Ventura County, supported racial segregation in education. Accompanying this change will be the addition of middle school grades to the campus, becoming a TK—8 school. Ventura, California
Ventura, officially named San Buenaventura (Spanish for "Saint Bonaventure"), is a city on the Southern Coast of California and the county seat of Ventura County. The population was 110,763 at the 2020 census. Ventura is a popular tourist destination, owing to its historic landmarks, beaches, and resorts. Ventura was founded by the Spanish in 1782, when Saint Junípero Serra established Mission San Buenaventura. Following the Mexican secularization of the Californian missions, San Buenaventura was granted by Governor Pío Pico to Don José de Arnaz as Rancho Ex-Mission San Buenaventura and a small community arose. Following the American Conquest of California, San Buenaventura eventually incorporated as a city in 1866. The 1920s brought a major oil boom, which along with the post–World War II economic expansion, significantly developed and expanded Ventura. History Archaeological discoveries in the area suggest that humans have populated the region for at least 10,000 ...

Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2
The Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2 (often shortened to Thomas C2) is a cowled-chassis school bus manufactured by bus body manufacturer Thomas Built Buses. Introduced in 2004, the C2 marked the first usage of the Freightliner C2 chassis. While produced largely for school use, the C2 is also produced for multiple applications, including specialty and commercial configurations. The C2 is unique in that it is available in capacities up to 81 passengers, the largest of any type C conventional school bus in current production. It is also the only school bus in North America with the option of a manual transmission. Derived from the Freightliner Business Class M2 medium-duty truck, the C2 consolidated the Saf-T-Liner Conventional and Saf-T-Liner FS-65 conventionals; the latter was produced concurrently with the C2 until December 2006. While produced with a full-length hood, the C2 adopted other design elements of the Vista conventional to improve loading-zone visibility. Thomas Built Bu ...

International 3000
The International 3000 Series is a transit-style (Type D) bus chassis manufactured by Navistar International, used for school bus and commercial bus applications. In production since 1990, it has been produced in both front and rear-engine configurations. 3000 Introduced in 1996 as a chassis for the AmTran RE, the 3000 was the first rear-engine bus chassis produced in nearly 20 years. Aside from a few buses bodied by Corbeil in the late 1990s, this chassis has been used exclusively by AmTran and its Navistar corporate successor IC Bus. In production for 20 years unchanged, it has one of the longest production runs of a bus chassis in North America. Just like the FE, the RE would be redesigned in 2003 after the rebranding of AmTran to IC Bus. From 1996 to 2016, the 3000 was powered exclusively by International diesel engines. Introduced with the T444E V8 engine, the engine lineup was expanded in 1997 to include the DT engine family and successor V8 engines, including the ...

Established in 2002 by Navistar through the reorganization of subsidiary manufacturer American Transportation Corporation (AmTran), IC currently produces school buses and commercial-use buses for multiple applications.
