Ventura Pérez Mariño
Ventura José Pérez Mariño (29 December 1948 – 14 February 2024) was a Spanish judge and Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) politician. He was a member of the Congress of Deputies from 1993 to 1995, and a city councillor in Vigo from 2003 to 2005, serving as mayor for the first few weeks of his tenure. Biography Early life and education Ventura José Pérez Mariño was born on 29 December 1948, in Vigo. He studied with the Jesuits and then at ICADE, graduating with a law and business administration degree from the University of Deusto. Legal and political career Pérez Mariño was a judge in the Audiencia Nacional in Madrid. He oversaw such cases as those of the ETA militant Josu Urrutikoetxea, and of Manuel Charlín, head of the Los Charlines drug trafficking family. Felipe González
Felipe González Márquez (; born 5 March 1942) is a Spanish lawyer, professor, and politician, who was the Secretary-General of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) from 1974 to 1997, and the 3rd Prime Minister of Spain since the restoration of democracy, from 1982 to 1996. He remains the longest-serving Prime Minister of Spain to be freely elected. González joined the PSOE in 1964, when it was banned under the Francoist regime. He obtained a law degree from the University of Seville in 1965. In 1974, the PSOE elected González as its Secretary-General after a split in its 26th Congress. Corina Porro
María Corina Porro Martínez (born 1 December 1953) is a Spanish politician. She was a member of the Vigo local government with the Galician People's Party between 1995 and 1999. She was Chief Director of Social Services between 1999 and 2001. She became a deputy in the Parliament of Galicia and Councillor of Social Services in the 2002-2003 period. Motions of no confidence in Spain are a parliamentary procedure that allows the Congress of Deputies or a parliament of an Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community to withdraw its trust from the Prime Minister of Spain, president of the Government of Spain or the president of the autonomous community, respectively, and force their resignation. In Spain, the motion of no confidence is Constructive vote of no confidence, constructive (as the authors of the motion need to propose a new Prime Minister) and continuist (as it doesn't lead to snap elections). Galician Nationalist Bloc
The Galician Nationalist Bloc ( gl, Bloque Nacionalista Galego, BNG ) is a political alliance of left-wing Galician nationalist parties. It is self-defined as a "patriotic front". Formed in 1982, under the guidance of historical leader Xosé Manuel Beiras, the BNG calls for further devolution of powers to the Parliament of Galicia and the official and unambiguous recognition of Galicia as a nation. The People's Party ( es, Partido Popular ; known mostly by its acronym, PP ) is a conservative and Christian-democratic political party in Spain. The People's Party was a 1989 re-foundation of People's Alliance (AP), a party led by former minister of the dictatorship Manuel Fraga and founded back in 1976 as alliance of post-Francoist proto-parties. The 2003 Spanish local elections were held on Sunday, 25 May 2003, to elect all 65,510 councillors in the 8,108 municipalities of Spain and all 1,036 seats in 38 provincial deputations.
