Ventanarosa
Ventanarosa is a production company formally founded by Salma Hayek in 1999. Its Spanish language translation literally means "rose-colored window" or "pink window." Ventanarosa's first feature film was '' El Coronel No Tiene Quien le Escriba'' based on the Gabriel García Márquez novel of the same name. The film was Mexico's official selection for submission to the Best Foreign Film category at the Academy Awards and was directed by Arturo Ripstein. In 1999, Ricka Fisher, who was head of Disney Telefilms, joined Ventanarosa as president of the studio. In 2001 the Ventanarosa released the Showtime movie ''In the Time of the Butterflies'', another adaptation of Julia Alvarez's novel by the same title. Salma Hayek Pinault ( , ; born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jiménez; September 2, 1966) is a Mexican and American actress and film producer. ''In the Time of the Butterflies'' is a 2001 feature film, produced for the Showtime television network, directed by Mariano Barroso and based on Julia Álvarez's book of the same name. The story is a fictionalized account of the lives of the Mirabal sisters, Dominican revolutionary activists, who opposed the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo and were assassinated on November 25, 1960. In the film, Salma Hayek played one of the sisters, Minerva, and Edward James Olmos plays Trujillo. Marc Anthony has a minor role as Minerva's first love, and the impetus for her later revolutionary activities. Plot The film begins with pictures and video of the actual victims of Trujillo.
