Veliyan Parushev
Veliyan Parushev ( bg, Велиян Пaрушев; 20 March 1968 – 29 January 2013) was a Bulgarian footballer who played as a defender. Career After starting his career with Sliven, Parushev signed with CSKA Sofia in the early 1990s, where he is best remembered for scoring a last-minute goal against Parma in a UEFA Cup match that enabled the "redmen" to eliminate their opponent on the away goals rule. Sliven
Sliven ( bg, Сливен ) is the eighth-largest city in Bulgaria and the administrative and industrial centre of Sliven Province and municipality in Northern Thrace. 1991–92 UEFA Cup
The 1991–92 UEFA Cup was the 21st season of Europe's then-tertiary club football tournament organised by UEFA. It was won by Dutch club Ajax on away goals over Torino of Italy. The victory made Ajax only the second team – after Torino's city rivals Juventus – to have won all three major European trophies ( European Cup/UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League, and the Cup Winners' Cup). Although this was the second season since the ban on English clubs in European competitions was lifted, only one English club was entered into the 1991–92 UEFA Cup. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. The team captain is usually identified by the wearing of an armband. Responsibilities The only official responsibility of a captain specified by the Laws of the Game is to participate in the coin toss prior to kick-off (for choice of ends or to have kick-off) and prior to a penalty shootout.
