''Veins'' is the seventh studio album by American rapper Homeboy Sandman. It was released by Stones Throw Records on March 31, 2017. Homeboy Sandman described the inspiration for the album as simply "a burning desire to just fuckin rhyme." Critical reception Robert Christgau wrote that if Sandman's "flow and beats were a smidge more iconic, he'd epitomize the kind of major minor artistry Le Tigre--hell, Spoon or somebody--parlayed into legend." Angel Del Villar II (born September 24, 1980), better known by his stage name Homeboy Sandman, is an American rapper from Elmhurst, Queens, New York, United States. Career Homeboy Sandman recorded and released his first EP, ''Nourishment'', in March 2007. His debut album, entitled ''Nourishment (Second Helpings)'', was released in August 2007. In early 2008, Homeboy Sandman's work began to be featured on underground radio programs the Squeeze Radio Show on WKCR 89.9 FM and the Halftime Radio Program on WNYU 89.1 FM in New York. Stones Throw Records is an American independent record label based in Los Angeles, California. Under the direction of founder Peanut Butter Wolf, Stones Throw has released music ranging from hip hop to experimental psychedelic rock. '' LA Weekly'' deemed the label an "eternally evolving experiment" in celebration of its 20th anniversary. History Chris Manak, known professionally as Peanut Butter Wolf, founded Stones Throw in 1996 as a means of releasing music he had recorded previously with the subsequently deceased rapper Charles Edward Hicks Jr., known professionally as Charizma. Hicks and Manak met in 1989 at 16 and 19, respectively, and began collaborating as Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf. Alexander Albert Manzano (born 1987), better known as his stage name Alexander Spit, is an American rapper and record producer from Los Angeles, California. He released his commercial debut full-length on January 29, 2013 on Decon Records. Biography Spit grew up in the Bay Area to a Filipino mother and San Francisco-raised father.
