Veikko Hakulinen
Veikko Johannes Hakulinen (4 January 1925 – 24 October 2003) was a Finnish cross-country skier, triple champion in both the Olympics and World Championships. He also competed in biathlon, orienteering, ski-orienteering, cross-country running, and rowing at a national level. Biography Hakulinen won the 50 km event at the 1952 Winter Olympics with a memorable time of 3:33.33. Finland also won the 4 × 10 km relay, but Hakulinen was not on the team. Hakulinen was part of the Finland's winning relay team in the 1960 Winter Olympics, and won the 30 km gold in the 1956 Olympics. At his fourth games in 1964 he served as the Finnish Olympic flag bearer and competed only in biathlon. In Finland, Hakulinen was chosen as sports personality of the year in 1952–1954 and 1960. Veikko Muronen
Veikko Muronen (21 October 1927 – 13 January 2006) was a Finnish MSc (diplomi-insinööri) and heavy vehicle designer. He worked as a manager of the Engineering Department of Vanajan Autotehdas (VAT) and later Suomen Autoteollisuus (SAT). Muronen is best known as the inventor of Vanaja lifting tandem system and designer of the last Vanaja series, "Muros-Vanaja". Early life and studies Muronen's parents were Ivan Mironov and Tanja née Fadjukov. After graduating from Hämeenlinna upper secondary school in 1946 Muronen went to study mechanical engineering in Tampere University of Technology. He graduated in 1953. Veikko Karvonen
Veikko Leo Karvonen (5 January 1926 – 1 August 2007) was a Finnish long-distance runner who mainly competed in the marathon. He won the bronze medal in the marathon at the 1956 Summer Olympics. At the 1954 European Championships he won the gold medal in the marathon and the following year won the Boston Marathon. Career Karvonen was born in Sakkola, a small Karelian town that then belonged to Finland but was invaded by the Soviet Union during World War II. Karvonen was evacuated to Saarijärvi, where he started his running career training with Jussi Kurikkala. He ran his first marathon in autumn 1949 in Turku with the promising result of 2:45:07. Karvonen participated in the 1950 European Championships in Brussels. He finished second in the marathon 32 seconds after the winner Jack Holden. Veikko Aaltonen (born 1 December 1955 in Sääksmäki, Finland) is a Finnish director, editor, sound editor, production manager and film and television writer and actor. Aaltonen began his career in the mid-1970s working as a sound editor on various films. Early in his career, he worked with Rauni Mollberg as co-writer on two of his films, ''Milka'' (1980) and '' The Unknown Soldier'' (1985). In 1987, Aaltonen directed his first feature film, ''Tilinteko'', which he co-wrote with Aki Kaurismäki, who also produced the film. Five years later, he directed a film that has been considered his primary breakthrough, ''The Prodigal Son'' (1992). Aaltonene was the first Finnish director to work on topics like pedophilia, Sadomasochism and sexual subjugation without credibility and morality. Toivo Veikko Vepa Lavi (23 April 1912, in Kotka – 22 May 1996, in Hamina) was a Finnish singer, songwriter and author. Veikko Hursti
Veikko Stefanus Hursti (25 November 1924 – 10 May 2005) was a Finnish philanthropist. He lived in Helsinki. Hursti is most famous for his work in helping the poor and the homeless. Hursti was from a family of seven children. His mother, maths teacher Elli Hursti (née Heiskanen), was a devout Christian and his father, Arvo Hursti, was a Methodist priest who helped street youth in Helsinki. At age 13, Hursti was admitted to Taideteollisuuskeskuskoulu (today Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture). He volunteered to serve in the Continuation War for two years and later worked as a commercial artist, singer and circus performer. In 1949 he married. The family lost their home due to Hursti's alcohol use and the children were taken into care for some time. Veikko Antero Koskenniemi (8 July 1885 – 4 August 1962) was a Finnish poet born in Oulu. From 1921 to 1948, Koskenniemi served as Professor of Literary History at the University of Turku. He was the university's rector from 1924 to 1932. In 1948 he became a member of the Finnish Academy. He died in Turku. V. A. Koskenniemi is one of Finland's most popular writers. Koskenniemi was well known for his poems, travel books, and essays. He was influenced by Goethe, Runeberg, French Parnassans and Symbolists. Veikko Kankkonen (born 5 January 1940) is a retired Finnish ski jumper who competed at the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Winter Olympics. He won two medals in 1964 with a gold in the individual normal hill and a silver in the individual large hill event. That same year he won the jumping competition at the Holmenkollen ski festival, which also earned him the Holmenkollen medal (shared with Eero Mäntyranta, Georg Thoma, and Halvor Næs). Veikko Aarne Aleks Huhtanen (5 June 1919 – 29 January 1976) was a Finnish artistic gymnast. He was the most successful gymnast at the 1948 Summer Olympics by taking home five medals, including three gold medals.
