Vegetarian Society (Singapore)
Vegetarian Society (Singapore) or VSS is a non-profit, non-denominational organisation. The Singapore-registered charity was established in 1999 to "Promote vegetarianism among the public and support and link individuals and organizations that practise, promote or endorse vegetarianism". VSS is the largest community for vegetarianism, veganism or any form of semi-vegetarianism in Singapore. Promoting a plant-based diet is one of the main goals. VSS is a member of the International Vegetarian Union (IVU) and the Asian Vegetarian Union (AVU) to synchronise within the global context. Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPHL) was an organisation with businesses in property and aged care in Singapore. Since its takeover by Cuscaden Peak in 2022, it has been renamed Cuscaden Peak Investments. Prior to 1 December 2021, SPHL was in the media business as well with a reach in the print, digital, radio, and outdoor media. It formed part of a duopoly on the mass media of Singapore, with the other player being Mediacorp. The Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom is a British registered charity which was established on 30 September 1847 to promote vegetarianism. EarthFest (SG)
EarthFest Singapore is a comprehensive festival celebrating sustainability in Singapore and first took place on 26 September 2015. The second festival occurred on 12 February 2017. The event is a collaboration between many different businesses and organisations in Singapore with the purpose of encouraging sustainability. The event has components of a food festival - as an international food fair of foods with lower environmental footprints, a farmer's market and bazaar, and a music festival which features live music from local talent, edutainment is covered with a carnival with environmentally themed educational games.
