Vaughn Scott
Vaughn Scott (born 11 January 1990, Cape Town) is a male Taekwondo fighter who represented New Zealand at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London in the Men's 80kg weight class. He lost his first round fight to Argentine Sebastián Crismanich by a score of 9–5. Because Crismanich went on to win the gold medal, Scott was included in the repechage and lost his fight to Afghan Nesar Ahmad Bahave by a score of 11–6, and was eliminated from the Olympic tournament. In competition to qualify for the 2016 Olympics, Scott lost to Hayder Shkara Hayder Shkara (born 21 May 1990) is a former professional Taekwondo athlete. Nesar Ahmad Bahave
Nesar Ahmad Bahawi , born March 27, 1984, in Kapisa Province) is an Afghan Taekwondo practitioner. He won the silver medal in the lightweight category (72 kg) at the 2007 World Taekwondo Championships, edging out 2004 Olympic Champion Hadi Saei in the semifinals. Nesar won the bronze medal in the lightweight category at the 2006 Asian Games, and represented Afghanistan in the -68kg category at the Beijing Olympics, where he also acted as flagbearer in the opening ceremony. Nesar won the gold medal in the 2009 Asian Martial Arts Games for taekwondo in the 72 kg weight range category. Hayder Shkara
Hayder Shkara (born 21 May 1990) is a former professional Taekwondo athlete. Early life Shkara was introduced to martial arts at the age of 8, whilst living in Sydney. He entered the Australian national team in 2006. From 2009 to 2017, Shkara was on the Australian National Taekwondo team and competed at the 2009 World Taekwondo Championships, 2011 World Taekwondo Championships, 2013 World Taekwondo Championships, 2015 World Taekwondo Championships and 2017 World Taekwondo Championships. He attempted to gain selection to the London 2012 Olympic Games but failed to qualify, after a loss to Vaughn Scott. The Pacific Games (French: Jeux du Pacifique), is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from Oceania. The inaugural Games took place in 1963 in Suva, Fiji, and most recently in 2019 in Apia, Samoa. The Games were called the South Pacific Games from 1963 to 2007. Sebastián Crismanich
Sebastián Eduardo Crismanich (born 30 October 1986 in Corrientes) is an Argentine taekwondo athlete. He won the gold medal in the men's 80 kg division at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Sebastián has the distinction of being the second individual athlete to win a gold medal for Argentina, the inaugural taekwondo medal for Argentina. The gold medal honor was established at the 1948 Summer Olympics, when Delfo Cabrera entered the stadium concluding the marathon. In his quest for the gold medal, Crismanich beat New Zealander Vaughn Scott 9-5, and then Afghan Nesar Ahmad Bahawi 9-1 in the quarterfinals. Taekwondo At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's 80 Kg
The men's 80 kg competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics was held on 10 August, at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre. Competition format The main bracket consisted of a single elimination tournament, culminating in the gold medal match. Two bronze medals were awarded at the Taekwondo competitions. A repechage was used to determine the bronze medal winners. Every competitor who lost to one of the two finalists competed in the repechage, another single-elimination competition. Each semifinal loser faced the last remaining repechage competitor from the opposite half of the bracket in a bronze medal match.
