Vaughn Granter
Vaughn Granter (born September 14, 1965) is a politician in Newfoundland and Labrador who currently serves as a City Councillor in Corner Brook. Granter previously served as the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture in the Davis government. He was elected to serve in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly on February 15, 2011 and re-elected in the 2011 general election. Granter worked as in the education profession since 1987, most recently as a high school principal at Corner Brook Regional High. Granter ran for public office in the electoral district of Humber West in a by-election that was called after the resignation of Premier Danny Williams. He defeated two other opponents including Liberal, Mark Watton on February 15, 2011 with a large majority to hold the seat for the Progressive Conservative party. Corner Brook
Corner Brook ( 2021 population: 19,333 CA 29,762) is a city located on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Corner Brook is the fifth largest settlement in Newfoundland and Labrador. Located on the Bay of Islands at the mouth of the Humber River, the city is the second-largest population centre in the province behind St. John's, and smallest of three cities behind St. John's and Mount Pearl. As such, Corner Brook functions as a service centre for western and northern Newfoundland. It is located on the same latitude as Gaspé, Quebec, a city of similar size and landscape on the other side of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Corner Brook is the most northern city in Atlantic Canada. Corner Brook Regional High School, known colloquially as "CBRH", is a Canadian secondary school in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. It is one of the largest schools in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador; it also has the largest student population of any school in the province.
