Vasundhara Tewari Broota
Vasundhara Tewari Broota (born 1955) is an Indian painter who does figurative paintings based on the perception of a woman and the psycho-political existence of the female body, traditional landscapes, still life with exquisite meaning. She worked on a cultural scholarship awarded by the Department of Culture, Government of India during 1982-84. She, Jatin Das and other 298 artists had donated art work for 2018 Kerala floods through an exhibition cum sale held in The National Gallery of Modern Art. Early life Tewari was born in Kolkata in 1955 and moved to New Delhi when she was fifteen. She graduated in literature from the University of Delhi and studied art at Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi. Jatin Das (painter)
Jatin Das (born 2 December 1941) is an Indian painter, sculptor and muralist. He is counted amongst the most contemporary artists of India. Personal life and education Jatin Das was born on 2 December 1941 in Baripada Mayurbhanj district, Mayurbhanj, Odisha, India. He studied at the Sir JJ School of Art, Bombay, under Professor S.B. Palsikar. His term at the school lasted for a period of five years, from 1957 to 1962. Thereafter, he started participating in the art exhibitions, both at the national as well as the international level. Some important exhibitions where he participated include the Biennales in Paris (1971), and in Venice (1978) and the Documenta in Kessel (1975). Das was previously married to Varsha Das. He currently married to Bidisha Roy Das. 2018 Kerala Floods
On 16 August 2018, severe floods affected the south Indian state Kerala, due to unusually high rainfall during the monsoon season. It was the worst flood in Kerala in nearly a century. Over 483 people died, and 15 are missing. About a million people were evacuated, mainly from Chengannur, Pandanad, Edanad, Aranmula, Kozhencherry, Ayiroor, Ranni, Pandalam, Kuttanad, Malappuram, Aluva, Chalakudy, Thrissur, Thiruvalla, Eraviperoor, Vallamkulam, North Paravur, Chellanam, Vypin Island and Palakkad. All 14 districts of the state were placed on red alert. According to the Kerala government, one-sixth of the total population of Kerala had been directly affected by the floods and related incidents. The Indian government had declared it a Level 3 Calamity, or "calamity of a severe nature". Triveni Kala Sangam is an important cultural and arts complex and education centre in New Delhi. Founded in 1950, by Sundari K.
