"Vasoline" is a song by American rock band Stone Temple Pilots from their second album, ''Purple''. The song was the second single of the album, reaching number one on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for two weeks. The song's odd-sounding intro was created by Robert DeLeo, who ran his bass through a wah-wah pedal to get the said effect. The song's lyrics were written by vocalist Scott Weiland. "Vasoline" also appears on the greatest hits compilation album ''Thank You''. A live version also appears on The Family Values 2001 Tour compilation. ''Purple'' (stylized on the cover art in its Chinese character ''紫'') is the second studio album by the American rock band Stone Temple Pilots, released on June 7, 1994, by Atlantic Records. The album, building on the foundation laid by the band's debut album ''Core'', was a huge success for the band, selling 252,000 copies in its first week and debuting at number one on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart and remaining there for three weeks, eventually selling over six million copies. Stone Temple Pilots (also known by the initialism STP) is an American rock band from San Diego, California, that originally consisted of Scott Weiland (lead vocals), brothers Dean (guitar) and Robert DeLeo (bass, backing vocals), and Eric Kretz (drums). Robert Emile DeLeo (born February 2, 1966) is an American musician, songwriter and producer, best known as the bassist for rock band Stone Temple Pilots. He is part of Delta Deep and he has also played in Talk Show and Army of Anyone. He is the younger brother of Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo. He is also the former bass player for the supergroup Hollywood Vampires. "Andy Warhol" is a song written by English singer-songwriter David Bowie in 1971 for the album ''Hunky Dory''. It is an acoustic song about one of Bowie's early artist inspirations, the American pop artist Andy Warhol. Background The album track opens with a series of strange electronic tones which fades into studio chatter in which producer Ken Scott mispronounces Warhol's name and Bowie repeatedly corrects him. Scott then solemnly reintroduces the take with the correct pronunciation, and Bowie asks if the tape is rolling.
