Fyodor Alexandrovich Vasilyev (russian: Фёдор Александрович Васильев, 1850 – 1873) was a Russian Imperial landscape painter who introduced the lyrical landscape style in Russian art. Biography Fyodor Vasilyev was born in Gatchina to a low-level government official, Alexander Vasilyevich Vasilyev, and Olga Emelyanova Polyntseva on 22 February N.S. 1850. His parents married four years later, so he was always considered an illegitimate child. Feodor had to earn his living from the age of 12 – he worked as a mailman, scribe, and assistant to a restorer of pictures. After his father’s death, he became the sole supporter of the family. In 1863, he managed to enter the evening classes of the School of Painting at the Society for Promotion of Artists (russian: Школа Поощрения Художеств). Konstantín Alexeyevich Vasilyev (russian: Константи́н Алексе́евич Васи́льев; September 3, 1942 – October 29, 1976) was a Russian symbolist painter, who left more than 400 paintings and drawings. His range of works included portraits, landscapes, realistic compositions, Russian epics, Slavic and Teutonic mythology, and battle paintings. Vasilyev popularized legendary characters of the Russian folk art, songs and fairy tales: Ilya Muromets, Mikula Selyaninovich, Svyatogor, , Dobrynya Nikitich, Volga Svyatoslavich and others. Alexander Georgievich Vasilyev (russian: Александр Гeopгиeвич Васильев; born July 15, 1969) is a singer, songwriter, and frontman of the Russian rock group "Splean". Vasilyev also released one solo album, and sometimes assisted other groups and artists. Life and career Vasilyev was born in Leningrad. His father was an engineer and his mother taught Russian literature. He spent a few years of his childhood in Sierra Leone and Lithuania, where his father was sent on work assignments, before returning to Leningrad in 1980. Two years later, Vasilyev's parents transferred him to a mathematics-oriented school, where his previously outstanding academic performance started to slip and he learnd to play guitar. Georgi Vasilyev (russian: Георгий Николаевич Васильев, 1899 – 1946) and Sergei Vasilyev (russian: Серге́й Дмитриевич Васильев, 1900 – 1959), usually credited as Vasilyev brothers (russian: Братья Васильевы) were two Russian Soviet film directors and screenwriters . Sergei Dmitrievich Vasilyev (russian: Серге́й Дми́триевич Васи́льев; 4 November 1900, Moscow – 16 December 1959, Moscow) was a Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter and actor. Dmitry Vladimirovich Vasilyev (russian: Дмитрий Владимирович Васильев) (born 8 December 1962 in Leningrad) is a former Soviet Biathlon, biathlete. At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Vasilyev won a gold medal with the Soviet relay team, which consisted of himself, Juri Kashkarov, Algimantas Šalna and Sergei Bulygin. He received another gold medal at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Mikhail Vasilyev (explorer)
Mikhail Nikolayevich Vasilyev (russian: Михаил Николаевич Васильев; 1770 – June 23, 1847) was a Russian explorer and vice admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy. He is reputed for having surveyed the then little-known coast of Alaska as navigator. Vasiliev was sent by the Russian Imperial Hydrographic Service in 1819 to explore the northern parts of the Pacific Ocean and particularly the area around the Bering Strait. Certain geographic features of the Alaskan coast, like the Lindenberg Peninsula and Sealion Island were named by him in the maps that were subsequently published. In 1820 Mikhail Vasiliev on the ship ''Otkrytie (Discovery)'' entered the Chukchi Sea and explored the coast of Alaska from Kotzebue Sound to Icy Cape and later from Norton Sound to Cape Newenham.
