Vasily Yegorov
Vasily Mikhailovich Egorov (russian: Василий Михайлович Егоров; born 16 September 1993 in Megino-Kangalassky District, Yakutia, Russia) is a Russian boxer of Yakut descent in Light flyweight category. He won silver at the 2015 World Championships and gold at the 2015 European Championships. Career Egorov is born in the village of Hara in Megino-Kangalassky District, Yakutia. He started boxing after his elder brother, Nikolai took up boxing. At the 2013 Russian Championships. Egorov began competing in the category up to 49 kg. He reached the finals but lost to Balik Galanov. Thus, Egorov won a silver medal in the senior level at the Russian Nationals. At the 2014 Russian Championships up to 49 kg. The Yakuts, or the Sakha ( sah, саха, ; , ), are a Turkic ethnic group who mainly live in the Republic of Sakha in the Russian Federation, with some extending to the Amur, Magadan, Sakhalin regions, and the Taymyr and Evenk Districts of the Krasnoyarsk region. The Yakut language belongs to the Siberian branch of the Turkic languages. The Russian word was taken from Evenk . Joahnys Oscar Argilagos Perez (born 11 January 1997) is a Cuban professional boxer. As an amateur, he won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics as well as winning a gold medal at both the 2015 and 2017 World Championships. Argilagos took up boxing in 2007 at the age of 10. He is fighting at amateur level for the World Series of Boxing, under the auspices of the (amateur) International Boxing Association. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission also abolished the junior flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. The World Series of Boxing or WSB was an international boxing tournament that allowed amateur boxers to compete professionally while maintaining amateur status and Olympic eligibility. It was organized by AIBA from 2010 to 2018. AIBA confirmed in 2019 that the league had ceased operations amid mounting financial losses. History The World Series of Boxing had a precursor in the International Boxing League, a short-lived U.S. venture established in November 1969 after the first U.S.—Soviet boxing dual meet in 1969. The league functioned until 1971 and hosted several exhibition tours of the Soviet boxing team across the United States to cities where IBL teams were located.
