Vasily Tikhonov (ice Hockey)
Vasili Viktorovich Tikhonov (13 May 1958 – 7 August 2013) was a Russian ice hockey coach. Biography Tikhonov was born and died in Moscow and was the son of legendary Soviet ice hockey coach Viktor Tikhonov. He started his career in the 1980s by coaching the youth teams of Dinamo Riga. In 1990 he became the head coach of Finnish SM-liiga side Ässät Pori. After the 1992–1993 season Tikhonov moved to North America and worked as an assistant coach with the San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League and later as a head coach with the Kansas City Blades and Kentucky Thoroughblades of the American Hockey League. In 1998 he returned to Europe and coached several teams in Finland, Switzerland and Russia. His son Viktor Tikhonov is a former NHL player with the Arizona Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks who currently plays for Ak Bars Kazan in the KHL. The coach in ice hockey is the person responsible for directing the team during games and practices, prepares strategy and decides which players will participate in games. Role As each game is given great importance, a coach will analyse past games and prepare for future games. Coaches are important in determining the style of hockey the team plays. While winning is a primary goal at the professional level, at the other extreme of minor hockey, teaching is given greater importance. Arizona Coyotes
The Arizona Coyotes are a professional ice hockey team based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Coyotes compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Central Division in the Western Conference and currently play at the Mullett Arena in Tempe. They first played at America West Arena (now Footprint Center) in downtown Phoenix from 1996 to 2003 and then played at Glendale's Gila River Arena (now Desert Diamond Arena) from 2003 to 2022. Founded on December 27, 1971, as the Winnipeg Jets of the World Hockey Association (WHA), they were one of four franchises absorbed into the NHL after the WHA had ceased operations, joining on June 22, 1979. SC Langnau Tigers are a professional ice hockey team from Langnau im Emmental, Switzerland. They play in the National League (NL). The team plays its home games in the 6,000-seat Ilfis Stadium, which is currently one of the smallest arenas in the NL. History Originally formed as the Ice skating club Langnau, the team was founded on 30 January 1946. The 1948–49 season started in the summer due to the planing on the grounds of the Napro, where the ice rink was to be built. The ice rink began operation on 26 December 1948.
