Vasile Tărâțeanu
Vasile Tărâțeanu ( uk, Василь Дмитрович Терицану; 27 September 1945 – 8 August 2022) was a Ukrainian writer and activist of Romanian ethnicity. Biography Vasile Tărâțeanu was born to Elena and Dumitru Tărâțeanu on 27 September 1945. He graduated from the Chernivtsi University in 1972. Vasile Tărâțeanu worked for the Romanian-language newspaper ''Zorile Bucovinei'' (1969–1981) and for Radio Kiev (1981–1991). In 1989, he founded the Mihai Eminescu Society for Romanian Culture and in 2000, he became the president of the House of the Romanian Language Cultural Foundation in Chernivtsi (). He was editor in chief of ''Plai românesc'' (1990–1994), ''Arcașul", ''Curierul de Cernăuți'' and ''Junimea''. Verkhni Synivtsi
Verkhni Synivtsi ( uk, Верхні Синівці; ro, Sinăuții de Sus) is a commune in Chernivtsi Raion, Chernivtsi Oblast, Ukraine. It is composed of two villages, Verkhni Synivtsi and Nyzhni Synivtsi (Нижні Синівці; ''Sinăuții de Jos''). It belongs to Terebleche rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Until 18 July 2020, Verkhni Synivtsi belonged to Hlyboka Raion. The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Chernivtsi Oblast to three. The area of Hlyboka Raion was merged into Chernivtsi Raion. Chernivtsi Oblast
Chernivtsi Oblast ( uk, Черніве́цька о́бласть, Chernivetska oblast), also referred to as Chernivechchyna ( uk, Чернівеччина) is an oblast (province) in Western Ukraine, consisting of the northern parts of the regions of Bukovina and Bessarabia. It has an international border with Romania and Moldova. The oblast is the smallest in Ukraine by area and second smallest by population. Chernivtsi was part of Romania. In 1408, when it was a town in Moldavia and the chief centre of the area known as Bukovina. Chernivtsi later passed to the Turks and then in 1774 to Austria.
