Vartdalsfjorden
Vartdalsfjorden is a fjord (more technically, a strait) in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It begins at the Storfjorden and Sulafjorden in the northeast and flows through the municipalities of Hareid and Ulstein on the northern shore of the fjord and through the municipalities of Ørsta and Volda on the southern shore. The long fjord has one road crossing, the Eiksund Tunnel. The deepest part of the fjord reaches below sea level. The village of Vartdal lies on the southern shore of the fjord in Ørsta. Ulstein
Ulstein is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. The commercial and administrative centre of Ulstein is the town of Ulsteinvik. The municipality occupies the western half of the island of Hareidlandet, as well as about 30 smaller islands, four of which are populated. Ulstein is connected to the mainland of Norway by the Eiksund Bridge (to the island of Eika) and then the Eiksund Tunnel to the neighboring municipality of Ørsta. The Grasøyane Lighthouse is located on a small island in the northwestern part of Ulstein Municipality. The municipality is the 330th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Rovdefjorden
Rovdefjorden is a fjord (more precisely, a strait) in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The fjord runs through the municipalities of Sande, Herøy, Vanylven, Volda, Ørsta, and a tiny part of Ulstein. The eastern end of the fjord connects with the Vartdalsfjorden and Voldsfjorden and the western end of the fjord connects with the Hallefjorden. The Syvdsfjorden branches off the Rovdefjorden to the south. The fjord is bounded by the mainland to the south and the island of Gurskøya to the north. The long fjord is about wide, and it reaches a maximum depth of below sea level, near the mouth of the Voldsfjorden. The area around the Rovdefjorden was once part of the municipality of Rovde from 1905 until 1964. The area south of the Rovdefjorden is called Rovdestranda. Vartdal
Vartdal is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1895 until its dissolution in 1965. The area now sits in the northwestern part of the Ørsta municipality, along the Vartdalsfjorden. The administrative centre was the village Sætre, which is also known as Vartdal. Other villages in the municipality were Flåskjer and Nordre Vartdal. The main church for Vartdal was Vartdal Church, located in the village of Nordre Vartdal. Eiksund Tunnel
The Eiksund tunnel ( no, Eiksundtunnelen) is an undersea tunnel in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway, which runs under the Vartdalsfjorden connecting the municipalities of Ørsta and Ulstein. The tunnel is long and reaches a depth of below sea level, and was the deepest undersea tunnel in the world until Norway's Rogaland county opened its deep Ryfast tunnel system in December 2019. Voldsfjorden
Voldsfjorden or Voldafjorden is a fjord in Volda Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The long fjord begins at the confluence of the Austefjorden and the Kilsfjorden. The Voldsfjorden reaches a maximum depth of below sea level, making it the deepest fjord in all of Sunnmøre. Storfjorden (Sunnmøre)
Storfjorden or Storfjord is a long fjord in the Sunnmøre region of Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It stretches from the village of Hareid in the west to the villages of Tafjord and Geiranger in the east. The Storfjorden system branches off into several smaller fjords including the famous Geirangerfjord and Tafjorden.
