Semyon Aleksandrovich Varlamov (russian: Семён Александрович Варламов, ; born 27 April 1988) is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender currently playing for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL). He first played professionally with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the then Russian Superleague (RSL) after he was drafted in the first round, 23rd overall, by the Washington Capitals in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He would later spend eight NHL seasons with the Avalanche before signing with the Islanders in the summer of 2019. Alexander Egorovich Varlamov (or ''Aleksandr Yegorovich Varlamov''; russian: Александр Егорович Варламов; 27 November 1801 – 27 October 1848) was a 19th-century composer, singer, teacher, conductor, and one of the founding fathers of the genre of the Russian art song. Serhiy Volodymyrovych Varlamov ( uk, Сергі́й Володи́мирович Варла́мов; born July 21, 1978) is a Ukrainian former professional ice hockey player. He played for the Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL). Nina Konstantinovna Varlamova (Russian: Нина Константиновна Варламова; 11 February 1954 – 17 December 2008) was a Russian politician. She was born on 11 February 1954. Varlamova served as the Mayor of the northern town of Kandalaksha in Murmansk Oblast. Varlamova was elected Mayor of Kandalaksha in 2007.
