Variable (computer Science)
In computer programming, a variable is an abstract storage location paired with an associated symbol, symbolic name, which contains some known or unknown quantity of information referred to as a ''value (computer science), value''; or in simpler terms, a variable is a named container for a particular set of bits or :simple:Data_type, type of data (like Integer (computer science), integer, Floating-point arithmetic, float, String (computer science), string etc...). A variable can eventually be associated with or identified by a memory address. The variable name is the usual way to Reference (computer science), reference the stored value, in addition to referring to the variable itself, depending on the context. This separation of name and content allows the name to be used independently of the exact information it represents. The identifier in computer source code can be Name binding, bound to a Value (computer science), value during Run time (program lifecycle phase), run time, and ...

Free Anti Revolutionary Party
The Free Anti Revolutionary Party (in Dutch: ''Vrij-Antirevolutionaire Partij'', VAR) was a Dutch conservative Reformed political party, which existed from 1898 to 1903. The VAR is historically linked to the Christian Democratic Appeal which is currently one of the major parties of the Netherlands. Party history The VAR was founded as one of several parties that were founded in the 1890s, which all turned against the leadership and ideology of Abraham Kuyper, the leader of the Protestant Anti Revolutionary Party. Kuyper had initiated a new political course for Protestantism in the Netherlands, which included cooperation with the Catholics, in the coalition, strategical support for extension of suffrage a rejection of theocracy in favour of a specific conception of state neutrality, sphere sovereignty and a strong party organization and party discipline. The opposition against Kuyper was led by Alexander de Savorin Lohman. The elections of 1894 proved decisive. An important ...

Spanish Customary Units
There are a number of Spanish units of measurement of length or area that are virtually obsolete due to metrication. They include the vara, the cordel, the league and the labor. The units of area used to express the area of land are still encountered in some transactions in land today. (unit of length) A (meaning "rod" or "pole", abbreviation: var) is an old Spanish unit of length. Varas are a surveying unit that appear in many deeds in the southern United States, and varas were also used in many parts of Latin America. It varied in size at various times and places; the Spanish unit was set at about in 1801. In Argentina, the vara measured about , and typical urban lots are wide (10 Argentine varas). At some time a value of was adopted in California. In Texas, a was defined as , or 1 yard = 1.08 . The and the corresponding unit of area, the square , were introduced in the 19th century to measure Spanish land grants. Stephen F. Austin's early surveying contracts requ ...

Video Assistant Referee
The video assistant referee (VAR) is a match official in association football who reviews decisions made by the referee. The assistant video assistant referee (AVAR) is a current or former referee appointed to assist the VAR in the video operation room. The responsibilities of the AVAR include watching the live action on the field while the VAR is undertaking a "check" or a "review", to keep a record of reviewable incidents, and to communicate the outcome of a review to broadcasters. Following extensive trialling in a number of major competitions, VAR was formally written into the Laws of the Game by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) on March 3, 2018. Operating under the philosophy of "minimal interference, maximum benefit", the VAR system seeks to provide a way for "clear and obvious errors" and "serious missed incidents" to be corrected. Procedure There are four categories of decisions that can be reviewed. * Goal/no goal – attacking team commits an ...

Volt-ampere Reactive
A volt-ampere ( SI symbol: V⋅A or V A, simplified as VA) is the unit for the apparent power in an electrical circuit. The apparent power equals the product of root mean square voltage (in volts) and root mean square current (in amperes). Volt-amperes are usually used for analyzing alternating current (AC) circuits. In direct current (DC) circuits, this product is equal to the real power, in watts. The volt-ampere is dimensionally equivalent to the watt: in SI units, 1 V⋅A = 1 W). VA rating is most used for generators and transformers (and other power handling equipment) where loads may be reactive (inductive or capacitive). Formulation For a simple electrical circuit running on direct current, the electrical current and voltage are constant. In that case, the real power (''P'', measured in watts) is the product of the electrical current (''I'', measured in amperes) and the voltage from one side of the circuit to the other (''V'', measured in volts): ...

Visual Aural Radio Range
The Visual Aural Radio Range (VAR) was a short range radio navigation aid, used from about 1940 until 1960, that provided four-course visual and aural track guidance signals at a range of about 100 miles. The VAR bridged the technological gap between the Low-Frequency Radio Range (LFR) radio navigation system and the VHF omnidirectional range (VOR) navigation system. VAR provided four courses for navigation, two using visual instrument signals functionally and technically similar to the modern localizer and backbeam components used in the ILS system and two using audio signals similar to the LFR system. VAR also used marker beacons similar to the ILS. History In the United States The Bureau of Air Commerce created a demonstration version of the VAR in 1937 at an Indianapolis research center. A demonstration version of the VAR system was built in 1941 between Chicago and New York. Initially, war shortages of VHF radio equipment prevented the system from being widely deploye ...

Vector Autoregression
Vector autoregression (VAR) is a statistical model used to capture the relationship between multiple quantities as they change over time. VAR is a type of stochastic process model. VAR models generalize the single-variable (univariate) autoregressive model by allowing for multivariate time series. VAR models are often used in economics and the natural sciences. Like the autoregressive model, each variable has an equation modelling its evolution over time. This equation includes the variable's lagged (past) values, the lagged values of the other variables in the model, and an error term. VAR models do not require as much knowledge about the forces influencing a variable as do structural models with simultaneous equations. The only prior knowledge required is a list of variables which can be hypothesized to affect each other over time. Specification Definition A VAR model describes the evolution of a set of ''k'' variables, called ''endogenous variables'', over time. Each perio ...
