Vannes Olympique Club (; commonly referred to as simply Vannes) is a French football club based in Vannes. The club was formed in 1998 as a result of the merger of ''Véloce vannetais'' founded in 1911 and ''FC Vannes'' known before 1991 as ''UCK Vannes'' founded in 1946 and currently play in Championnat National 2, the fourth level of French football. Vannes plays its home matches at the Stade de la Rabine located within the city. History Though formed in the late 1990s, Vannes developed into a solid football club. In the club's first season of existence, it won the Division d'Honneur of the Brittany region. Almost a decade later, the club won the Championnat National, the third division of French football to ascend to Ligue 2. In cup competitions, Vannes reached the final of the 2008–09 edition of the Coupe de la Ligue, in what was the club's first time participating in the tournament. The Championnat National 2, commonly known as National 2 and formerly known as Championnat de France Amateur (CFA), is a football league competition. The league serves as the fourth tier of the French football league system behind Ligue 1, Ligue 2, and the Championnat National. Virgile Piechocki (born 12 January 1997) is a French professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Championnat National club Avranches. Career Piechocki was a full-time student who played amateur football, before he was scouted by Reims in 2015. Erwan Quintin (born 1 February 1984) is a French professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Championnat National 2 club Vannes. Career Quintin was born in Auray. He started his career in the youth ranks of Vannes at the age of 19, progressing to the first team in 2002. He left in 2003 and joined the reserves of Bordeaux.
