Vanier (electoral District)
Vanier is a former provincial electoral district located in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada, which elected members to the National Assembly of Quebec. As of its final election, it included mostly western and central portions of Quebec City west of Quebec Autoroute 73. It was created for the 1973 election from parts of the riding of Saint-Sauveur. Its final election was in 2008. It disappeared in the 2012 election and the successor electoral district was Vanier-Les Rivières. Quebec Liberal Party
The Quebec Liberal Party (QLP; french: Parti libéral du Québec, PLQ) is a provincial political party in Quebec. It has been independent of the federal Liberal Party of Canada since 1955. The QLP has always been associated with the colour red; each of their main opponents in different eras have been generally associated with the colour blue. Jean-Talon
Jean-Talon is a provincial electoral riding in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It consists of part of the Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge borough of Quebec City. It was named after former French colonial administrator of New France, Jean Talon. History It was created for the 1966 election from Québec-Centre and parts of Québec-Est and Québec-Ouest electoral districts. The riding's current boundaries and those in 1966 share no territory in common, as the riding has continuously shifted westward throughout its history. When the riding was created in 1966, it was located in the central part of Quebec City, and included the neighbourhoods of Old Quebec, Basse-Ville, Saint Roch, Saint-Sacrement and most of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and Montcalm. Louis-Hébert (provincial Electoral District)
Louis-Hébert is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It consists of part of the Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge borough of Quebec City (specifically the neighbourhoods of Cap-Rouge, Champigny, Jouvence, Quartier Laurentien, Lorette, Les Grands-Déserts and parts of Pointe-de-Sainte-Foy and Place-Notre-Dame), as well as all of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures. It was created for the 1966 election from parts of Québec-Comté and Québec-Ouest and a small part of Portneuf electoral districts. Jean-Lesage is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It consists of parts of the Beauport and La Cité-Limoilou boroughs of Quebec City. It was created for the 2003 election from most of the former Limoilou and part of Montmorency electoral districts. Even earlier, before Limoilou, the electoral district of Québec-Est existed in the same general area. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost some territory to Montmorency but gained some territory from Taschereau; it also gained a tiny amount of territory from Charlesbourg. It notably includes parts of Quebec City as well as the city of L'Ancienne-Lorette. It was created for the 1981 election from a part of Chauveau electoral district. Chauveau is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It includes portions of the Charlesbourg and La Haute-Saint-Charles boroughs of Quebec City and the eastern portion of the La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality. It was created for the 1966 election from part of Québec-Comté electoral district. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier to La Peltrie and the unorganized territory of Lac-Jacques-Cartier to Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré. 2007 Quebec General Election
The 2007 Quebec general election was held in the Canadian province of Quebec on March 26, 2007 to elect members of the 38th National Assembly of Quebec. The Quebec Liberal Party led by Premier Jean Charest managed to win a plurality of seats, but were reduced to a minority government, Quebec's first in 129 years, since the 1878 general election. The Action démocratique du Québec, in a major breakthrough, became the official opposition. The Parti Québécois was relegated to third-party status for the first time since the 1973 election. The Liberals won their lowest share of the popular vote since Confederation, and the PQ with their 28.35% of the votes cast won their lowest share since 1973 and their second lowest ever (ahead of only the 23.06% attained in their initial election campaign in 1970). Sylvain Légaré
Sylvain Légaré (born October 22, 1970) is a politician in Quebec, Canada. He was an Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ) Member of the National Assembly of Quebec (MNA) for the Vanier riding from 2004 to 2008. Born in Quebec City, Quebec, Légaré studied financial planning at the Université Laval and TELUQ, graduating in 2000, and has worked as a financial advisor since 1999. He owned a financial service firm in 2003. He also worked at Environment Canada as a weather observer from 1997 to 1999.
