Vang Pao
Vang Pao ( RPA: ''Vaj Pov'' , Lao: ວັງປາວ; 8 December 1929 – 6 January 2011) was a major general in the Royal Lao Army. He was a leader of the Hmong American community in the United States. He was also known as General Vang Pao to the people in the Hmong community. Early life Vang, an ethnic Hmong, was born on 8 December 1929, in a Hmong village named Nonghet, located in Central Xiangkhuang Province, in the northeastern region of Laos, where his father, Neng Chu Vang, was a county leader. Vang began his early life as a farmer until Japanese forces invaded and occupied French Indochina in World War II. His father sent him away to school from the age of 10 to 15 before he launched his military career, joining the French Military to protect fellow Hmong during the Japanese invasion. Ka Vang
Ka Vang (born 1975) is a Hmong-American writer in the United States. Vang was born on a CIA military base, Long Cheng, Laos, at the end of the Vietnam War, and immigrated to the United States in 1980. A fiction writer, poet, playwright, and former journalist, Vang has devoted much of her professional life to capturing Hmong folktales on paper. She is a recipient of the Archibald Bush Artist Fellowship and several other artistic and leadership awards. She is the author of the children's book, ''Shoua and the Northern Lights Dragon'', a finalist for the 23rd Annual Midwest Book Awards in 2012. Chai Vang
Chai Soua Vang (born September 24, 1968), more commonly known as Chai Vang, is an American of Hmong descent who was convicted of first degree intentional homicide, having pleaded self-defense after allegedly being fired upon. Vang, a six-year veteran of the California National Guard, shot eight people while he unintentionally trespassed upon a hunting group in northern Wisconsin on November 21, 2004; six were killed and two were wounded. Vang, who lived in Saint Paul, Minnesota at the time of the shootings, is imprisoned at the Anamosa State Penitentiary, as of 2006. Biography Vang's father had served in a Laotian Civil War that was funded and organized by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Bee Vang
Bee Vang ( RPA: ''Npis Vaj'', Pahawh: ', Chinese-Mandarin: 王陛; born November 4, 1991) is an American actor and activist of Hmong descent. He is best known for starring in Clint Eastwood's 2008 film ''Gran Torino'' as Thao Vang Lor. Early life and education Vang was born in Fresno, California, four years after his Hmong parents emigrated from Thailand. He has five brothers and one sister. Vang resided in the Twin Cities area. He grew up in a neighborhood in Minneapolis that he described as "poor." He later lived in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. In his earlier years, he attended Webster Open, a middle school in Minneapolis where he took theater class. Katie Ka Vang is a Hmong American performance artist, poet and playwright. She has created and written several performance pieces and plays. These include ''wtf'', ''Hmong Bollywood'', ''Meaning of Freedom''; ''Use of Sharpening'', ''Youth In Session'', and ''Myth of Xee''. Vang was born in Santa Ana, California, lived in Colorado and moved to Minneapolis–Saint Paul in 1999. Bora Vang (王博, born April 9, 1987) is a Chinese-born Turkish male national table tennis player. The tall athlete at competes for Adana Table Tennis Club, where he is coached by Sabahattin Sabrioğlu. Vang is a little fishing village on the northwest coast of the Danish island of Bornholm, north of Hasle. From the late 19th century, it prospered as a result of its granite-quarrying activities. Vang, Hedmark
Vang is a former municipality in the old Hedmark county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1992 when it became part of Hamar Municipality. The administrative centre of the municipality was at Fredvang. This site, however became part of the town of Hamar in 1946, so after that time, the municipal administration was actually located outside the municipal borders in the neighboring municipality.
