Don McKellar
Don McKellar (born August 17, 1963) is a Canadian actor, writer, playwright, and filmmaker. He was part of a loosely-affiliated group of filmmakers to emerge from Toronto known as the Toronto New Wave. He is known for directing and writing the film '' Last Night'', which won the Prix de la Jeunesse at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival, as well as his screenplays for films like ''Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould'', ''The Red Violin'', and ''Blindness''. McKellar frequently acts in his own projects, and has also appeared in Atom Egoyan’s ''Exotica'' and David Cronenberg’s '' eXistenZ''. The Vancouver Film Critics Circle (VFCC) was founded in 2000 by David Spaner and Ian Caddell, in order to help promote Canadian films and the British Columbia Film and Television Industry. Its membership includes print, radio, on-line, and television critics, either based in Vancouver or with Vancouver outlets. VFCC Notable Milestones The VFCC celebrated its 13th anniversary of giving awards to the year’s best films on January 7, 2013 at the Railway Club. The event is the only among Canadian critics’ groups that presents a full slate of international awards and a full slate of Canadian awards. The VFCC also presents a Best of British Columbia Award and the Ian Caddell Achievement Award that goes to an individual or group that has made a significant contribution to the local film and television industry. Nadia Litz
Nadia Litz (born December 26, 1976) is a Canadian actress and director. Early life Litz was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A former child actor, she has described herself as somewhat ambitious. She is of Russian, Polish and British descent. She took an interest in films at the age of 6, and started living in Toronto at 17 to attend York University, but left to film '' The Five Senses''. She also joined the 2,500 hopefuls who auditioned for the title role in the 1997 film version of '' Lolita'', which went to Dominique Swain. She returned to York University to take film studies. Film career Litz would go on to achieve a long acting resume, although she often received no money for her parts and instead chose projects she liked.
