Tamil cinema, also known as Kollywood is a part of Indian Cinema; primarily engaged in production of motion pictures in the Tamil language. Based out of the Kodambakkam neighbourhood in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, it is popularly called ''Kollywood'' - a portmanteau of the words Kodambakkam and Hollywood. The first Tamil silent film, ''Keechaka Vadham'', was directed by R. Nataraja Mudaliar in 1918. The first Tamil talking feature film, ''Kalidas'', a multilingual directed by H M Reddy was released on 31 October 1931, less than seven months after India's first talking motion picture ''Alam Ara''. By the end of the 1930s, the legislature of the State of Madras passed the Entertainment Tax Act of 1939. Krishna (Tamil Actor)
Krishna Kulasekaran (born 14 February 1978) credited as Krishna is an Indian actor who mainly appears in Tamil cinema. He is the younger brother of Tamil film director Vishnuvardhan. Early life Krishna's father is film producer K.K.Sekar (Pattiyal Sekar) and his brother is noted film director, Vishnuvardhan. He went to St. Bede's Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Chennai, studied at Loyola College and graduated with an MBA in finance in the United States. He worked for a year and a half in the IT industry and started his own business that was doing well. He has also undergone training in Jazz and worked as a dancer/choreographer before he left for US. Ganesh Janardhanan, also known by his stage name VTV Ganesh is an Indian actor, comedian and film producer. He is best known for his hoarse voice, and his appearances in films featuring Silambarasan. He had made his debut in Tamil movie ''Red'' (2002) directed by Singampuli. He is very much known for his movie ''Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa'' (2010) directed by Gautham Menon. Aari Arujunan, known by the mononym Aari, is an Indian actor who has appeared in Tamil language films. He made his lead debut in ''Rettaisuzhi'' (2010) produced by director Shankar, before having a breakthrough performance as Murugan in ''Nedunchaalai'' (2014) and starring in the supernatural thriller ''Maya''. In 2021, he emerged as the title winner of the Tamil reality television show '' Bigg Boss Tamil Season 4''.
