Laurel van der Wal (September 22, 1924 – August 13, 2009) was an American aeronautical engineer who is known for contributions to bioastronautics. She was named the ''Los Angeles Times's'' "1960 Woman of the Year in Science" for her contributions to the field. Early life and education Laurel van der Wal was born in San Francisco, the daughter of Lillian and Richard van der Wal, both from Spokane, Washington. Her mother was a former teacher and an alumna of the University of Washington; her father was a businessman. She graduated from high school at age 15, and worked as a model, an art instructor, a deputy sheriff, a showgirl, a railroad switch tower operator, and a casino shill as a young woman. His work has primarily dealt with the World Wide Web, Web and with information design and structure especially in the context of social technology. Ron Vanderwal (born 1938) was an American-Australian Archaeologist who specialised in the prehistoric archaeology of the Pacific and New Guinea in particular. He worked at La Trobe University and the Museum of Victoria. He died on 19 July 2021. Vanderwal studied Anthropology at Michigan State University (BA in 1961) and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (MA in 1969). From 1965 to 1969 he was archeologist in Kingston, Jamaica where he help establish a museum at the Institute of Jamaica. He moved to Australia in the 1970s undertaking a PhD in the prehistory of Papua at the Australian National University and subsequently taking on a role at the Tasmanian Museum. Marian van de Wal (born 21 January 1970, Vianen) is a Dutch-Andorran singer and businesswoman who was the representative of Andorra at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Originally from the Netherlands, Van de Wal runs a small hotel in the Andorran town of L'Aldosa. She entered Eurocasting 2005, and was one of three finalists selected to go to the country's national final. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 52 Chevrolet Camaro for Jimmy Means Racing.
