Fransje Van Der Waals
Fransje van der Waals (born 1950 in Heemstede) is a Dutch medical physician and founder of the non-profit organisation Health oundation. Career After her study at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Amsterdam, Fransje received her MD degree in 1978 and her PhD from the same university in 1995. In 1981, she was board certified in the Netherlands as general practitioner. In 1987, she became assistant professor and head of the Women's Health Studies Department at the Academic Medical Center of the University of Amsterdam. In the period 1979-2001, Fransje published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and between 1983 and 1997 she also published five books on women's health issues. She also wrote medical columns in ELLE, Marie Claire and Santé magazines on a regular basis and has a weekly radio talk show on health-related subjects. Henk van der Waal (born 1960) is a Dutch poet. Early life Van der Waal studied philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. Career Van der Waal has worked as a journalist, a translator and as a teacher at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. In 1996, he won the C. Buddingh'-prijs for his debut poetry collection ''De windsels van de sfinx'' (1995). His second poetry collection ''Schuldsanering'' (2000) was nominated for the Paul Snoek-poëzieprijs. Joan Van Der Waals
Joan Henri van der Waals (2 May 1920 – 21 June 2022) was a Dutch physicist. He was professor of experimental physics at Leiden University between 1967 and 1989. He specialized in molecular physics and clathrate hydrates. One of van der Waals's most significant contributions to the study of hydrates was a series of papers between 1953 and 1958, which eventually culminated in the 1959 publication of his paper on the canonical partition function for clathrates, along with J. C. Platteeuw. To create this partition function, van der Waals made a number of simplifying assumptions, most prominently that neighboring guest gas molecules cannot interact and there is a maximum of one guest per cage. Johannes Diderik van der Waals (; 23 November 1837 – 8 March 1923) was a Dutch theoretical physicist and thermodynamicist famous for his pioneering work on the equation of state for gases and liquids. Van der Waals started his career as a school teacher. He became the first physics professor of the University of Amsterdam when in 1877 the old Athenaeum was upgraded to Municipal University. A Van der Waals molecule is a weakly bound complex of atoms or molecules held together by intermolecular attractions such as Van der Waals forces or by hydrogen bonds. Van der Waals is a lunar impact crater on the far side of the Moon. It is a heavily eroded feature with an irregular outer rim. The edge is lowest along the southern side where it is little more than a circular crest along the ground. It is more developed along the northern side, but the rim is notched and rugged. The satellite crater Van der Waals W is attached to the exterior of the northeast, and Van der Waals H intrudes into the rim along the southeast. The interior floor is relatively even and featureless, with only a few tiny craterlets to mark the surface. Nearby craters of note include Clark to the north, Carver to the east, and Pikel'ner to the southeast. About two crater diameters to the west-southwest is Lebedev.
