Dutch names consist of one or more given names and a surname. The given name is usually gender-specific. Andrew Van Slee
Andrew Van Slee (born 4 June 1962) is a Canadian-born independent film director. His most successful work was the 2001 film ''Totally Blonde''. Career Van Slee was born on 4 June 1965 in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was trained as an opera singer and pianist. As a young man he became an actor, appearing in various local TV and film productions in Vancouver. He then studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, California. At age 21 he moved to Toronto, Ontario where he became a sales manager for the publisher MacLean Hunter. After winning a lottery, he returned to Vancouver with his wife and opened ATV Studios, an acting school, as well as the extra casting agency ''Moo-vie Kidz'' for child actors in British Columbia. Van Slee worked in the casting department for many TV movies between 1989 and 1994. Jacob Cornelis Van Slee
Jacob Cornelis van Slee (1841–1929) was a Dutch Reformed clergyman and scholar. He was the author of a study of the Windesheim Congregation, ''De kloostervereeniging van Windesheim'' (Leiden, 1874), and between 1875 and 1900 contributed articles on theologians to the ''Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie''. Life Slee was born at Hillegom on 23 September 1841, the son of Cornelis van Slee and Anna Barbera Geertruida Romeny. He studied Theology at the Athenaeum Illustre of Amsterdam and at Leiden University. In 1868 he married Elisabeth Kenno and was appointed minister at Herwijnen. Appointments followed at Oostzaan in 1873, at Drumpt in 1877, and at Brielle in 1881. In 1891 he became preacher in Deventer, and in 1892 librarian of the city's Athenaeum Illustre (a sort of liberal arts college).
