Archibald Van Horne
Archibald Van Horne (1758–1817) was an American politician. Van Horne was born in 1758. He was appointed adjutant of the Fourteenth Regiment of the Maryland Militia on April 18, 1798, and was commissioned captain on May 26, 1802. He was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1801 to 1803 and 1805, and served as speaker in the latter year. He resigned November 11, 1805, and was later elected as a Republican to the Tenth and Eleventh Congresses, serving from March 4, 1807, to March 3, 1811. During the Eleventh Congress, he was chairman of the United States House Committee on the District of Columbia, Committee on the District of Columbia. Van Horne was again elected to the Maryland House of Delegates and served from 1814 to 1816. He was then elected to the Maryland State Senate in 1816 and served until his death in Prince George's County, Maryland. Van Horne was a slaveholder. Robert Van Horne (born April 23, 1948) is an American composer and concert pianist. One of the most influential jazz pianist teachers during his musical training was George Shearing. He studied Classical music at the Philadelphia Academy of Music graduating with double degrees in Piano performance and Music education. Afterwards, he continued his musical education with popular and jazz styles of composing and improvisation. William Cornelius Van Horne
Sir William Cornelius Van Horne, (February 3, 1843September 11, 1915) is most famous for overseeing the construction of the first Canadian transcontinental railway, a project that was completed in 1885, in under half the projected time. He succeeded Lord Mount Stephen as president of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) in 1888. He was responsible for launching the sea transport division of the CPR, which inaugurated regular service between Vancouver and Hong Kong in 1891. He also presided over the expansion of the CPR into the luxury hotel business in the 1890s. He was also a prominent member of the syndicate that created the Cuba Railroad Company in 1900. He lived at the Van Horne Mansion in Montreal's Golden Square Mile. Terry E. Van Horne (February 24, 1946 – January 30, 2012) was a former Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where he represented the 54th legislative district. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from Arnold High School in 1963.
