Aaron Van Camp
Aaron Van Camp (June 23, 1816 – September 15, 1892) was an espionage agent for the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. He and his son Eugene B. Van Camp were members of the Rose O'Neal Greenhow Confederate spy ring, which in 1861 was broken up by Allan Pinkerton, head of the newly formed Secret Service. At the time of the Civil War, Van Camp was a well-known dentist in Washington, D.C. After his arrest and imprisonment in the Old Capitol Prison, he was paroled in early 1862. During the remainder of the Civil War, he continued spying for the Confederacy. He had taken his family to California during the Gold Rush of 1849, and then traveled in the South Pacific. In the 1850s he operated a whaling supply company in Samoa, where he was appointed as Commercial Agent for the United States in the Navigator Islands (now American Samoa) from 1853 to 1856. Albert Joseph Van Camp (September 7, 1903 – February 2, 1981) was a backup first baseman/left fielder in Major League Baseball who played from through for the Cleveland Indians (1928) and Boston Red Sox (1931–1932). Listed at 5' 10", 175 lb., Van Camp batted and threw right-handed. Biography Van Camp was born in Moline, Illinois. In 1927, Van Camp hit .309 with 11 home runs for the Des Moines Demons of the Western League before entering the majors in 1928 with Cleveland. Jeff Van Camp (born September 9, 1987) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football at Florida Atlantic University, under head coach Howard Schnellenberger, as well as high school football at Navarre High School in Navarre, Florida. High school Van Camp's junior year campaign was halted by the effect that Hurricane Ivan had on the Navarre community. Forced to assist with his family's needs, his football season would be cut short. During his senior year, Van Camp lead the Navarre Raiders to a 4-8 team record that was plagued by inconsistency from a young core. In a pro-style double-wing formation offense, Van Camp was able to put together a 997 yards, 5 TDs season over 10 games in which earned him an invitation to the local area's highschool all-star game. Van Camp was also able to lead Navarre's two-senior member basketball team in points, rebounds, and blocks, numbers.
