Valåsen Och Labbsand
Valåsen och Labbsand is a locality ( tätort) situated in Karlskoga Municipality, Örebro County, Sweden with 354 inhabitants in 2020. Established in 2015, but had previously been part of Karlskoga, according to Statistics Sweden. Geography Valåsen och Labbsand is near the course of the River Valån. The area is completely located in the Karlskoga Municipality. The locality lies mostly to the south of Valåsen Manor, and is bounded notionally by Kilsbergen (the low mountainous ridge) to the east, Lake Möckeln to the west, Degerfors Municipality to the south. To the north is a subdivision of Moelven Industrier, Moelven Valåsen AB. The area is mostly residential, the particular exception being Karlskoga Golf Club. Bus services run to both Central Karlskoga and Degerfors Degerfors () is a locality and the seat of Degerfors Municipality, Örebro County, Sweden, with 7,160 inhabitants in 2010. Valåsen Manor
Valåsen Manor ( sv, Valåsens herrgård, ) is a manor house at Valåsen och Labbsand. The manor is located in Karlskoga Municipality, Örebro County, Sweden. The current-standing manor house was built in the 18th century, but the history of the property is older. Valåsen Manor is one of Karlskoga's major historical buildings. The manor is associated with several Swedish writers including Selma Lagerlöf, Hjalmar Bergman, Erik Gustaf Geijer and Sven Stolpe. Geography Valåsen Manor is near the course of the River Valån, east of Lake Möckeln, uphill on a sloping site. It is bounded notionally by Kilsbergen and Lake Angsjön, to the east. History Valåsen Works was acquired in the 1630s by Gerhard Ysing from Arvid Bengtsson. Valåsen was passed to Ysing's heir, Johan Ysing. In 1779, the manor was acquired by nobleman Bengt von Hofsten. Karlskoga
Karlskoga () is a locality and the seat of Karlskoga Municipality, Sweden. Located within Örebro County, 45 km (28 mi) west of Örebro, and 10 km (6 mi) north of Degerfors. With a 2020 population of 27,386 distributed over 10.55 square miles (27.33 km2), Karlskoga is the second-largest city in both Örebro County and the historical province of Värmland. Karlskoga straddles the northern shore of Lake Möckeln. Among the city's main topographical features are the two rivers, Timsälven and Svartälven. Other features include an esker, Rävåsen, contiguous with the city center. Johanna Christina von Hofsten (; 3 September 1832 – 19 December 1913) was a Swedish-language children's writer. Life and work Johanna Christina von Hofsten was born into the von Hofsten family at Valåsen Manor in Karlskoga Socken (present-day Valåsen och Labbsand). She was the fourth of five children to Ironmaster Erland von Hofsten and Johanna Fredrika Nordenfelt. Von Hofsten died on 19 December 1913 in Gerum socken.
