Uig, Lewis
Uig ( gd, Ùig ), also known as ''Sgìr' Ùig'', is a civil parish and community in the west of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. The Parish of Uig is one of the four civil parishes of the Isle of Lewis. It contains the districts of Carloway, East Uig, Bernera and West Uig (commonly known as Uig district or Uig Lewis). The name derives from the Norse word ''Vik'' meaning 'a bay'. Uig District Geography Uig (Lewis) otherwise known as West Uig is the largest and most sparsely populated district of the Isle of Lewis. Valtos Province
Valtos Province ( el, Επαρχία Βάλτου) is one of the five former provinces of Aetolia-Acarnania in Greece. It lies in the northern part of Aetolia-Acarnania. Its capital was Amfilochia. The Acheloos River was the border of the province to Evrytania. Its territory corresponded with that of the current municipality Amfilochia and the municipal unit Stratos.  It was abolished in 2006. During Ottoman rule, the region of Valtos (which means "swamp" in Greek) was a haven for bandits and brigands. Valtos Sandstone Formation
The Valtos Sandstone Formation is a Middle Jurassic (Bathonian) formation found in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. It is the thickest member of the Great Estuarine Group. The lithology consists of sets of approximately 6 metre thick cross bedded sandstone, capped by thin shelly limestones containing bivalves of the genus '' Neomiodon'' Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation, although none have yet been referred to a specific genus.Weishampel, et al.
