Valtion Lentokonetehtaat
''Valtion lentokonetehdas'' (State aircraft factory) was a Finnish aircraft manufacturing company that was founded on 23 February 1928 from the IVL or I.V.L. factory (Ilmailuvoimien lentokonetehdas, Finnish Air Force Aircraft Factory), founded in 1921. The company was transferred from being subordinate to the Finnish Air Force to being subordinate to the Ministry of Defence. The company, and its products were named with the prefix VL. Island factory The company began its production at Suomenlinna and Santahamina in Helsinki. The factory did not have an airport, only the sea and sea ice could be used for take-off and landing. Most of the aircraft built in Helsinki were seaplanes. In Helsinki the aircraft built were small compared to the Bristol Blenheim bombers built under licence in the late 1930s. N.V. Koolhoven was an aircraft manufacturer based in Rotterdam, Netherlands. From its conception in 1926 to its destruction in the Blitzkrieg in May 1940, the company remained the second major Dutch aircraft manufacturer (after Fokker). VL Sääski
VL Sääski II (English: mosquito) was the first series-produced aircraft designed in Finland. The aircraft was built by the State Aircraft Factory (''Valtion lentokonetehdas'') (abbreviated either V.L. or VL) and was a two-seat, biplane, single-engine trainer constructed out of wood. Design and development The aircraft was designed by Kurt Berger and Asser Järvinen in 1927 and the prototype was financed by the ten-person construction team that built the aircraft in the A.E. Nyman workshop. The prototype was called Sääski I and was completed in the early spring of 1928. The aircraft's civil registration code was "K-SASA" and it was sold to the Finnish Air Force on June 25, 1928. Karhumäki Brothers
Niilo and Valto Karhumäki, also known as the Karhumäki brothers ( fi, Veljekset Karhumäki), were Finnish aviation pioneers, aircraft manufacturers and airline founders. Born in Multia, Niilo and Valto Karhumäki moved to Jyväskylä, where they founded a company called ''Veljekset Karhumäki'' in late 1924, which dealt with pilot training, public displays, aircraft maintenance and aerial photography during the 1930s.
