View of 240px The Vallo di Diano (also known as ''Valdiano'') is an Italian valley of the south-eastern side of Campania, in the province of Salerno. Geography Situated between the Alburni mountains and the borders of Campania with Basilicata, it is considered a geographical subregion of Cilento and is part of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, World Heritage Site of Italy from 1998. The greatest forestal park, mainly located in cilentan side, is Pruno. The area is composed by 17 municipalities, and the greatest one is Sala Consilina, with c. 12,500 inhabitants. The others are Atena Lucana, Auletta, Buonabitacolo, Caggiano, Casalbuono, Monte San Giacomo, Montesano sulla Marcellana, Padula, Pertosa, Polla, San Pietro al Tanagro, Sant'Arsenio, San Rufo, Sanza, Sassano and Teggiano. Teggiano
Teggiano (formerly Diano; Teggianese: ) is a town and ''comune'' in Campania, Italy, in the province of Salerno. It is situated on an isolated eminence above the upper part of the valley to which it gives the name of Vallo di Diano. Among the historic centers of the province, Teggiano is certainly one that has best preserved its ancient appearance of the fortress and it is this aspect which is shown to those who reach the old town. Pruno (Cilento)
Pruno is a forest in the Campania region of southern Italy. It is the largest woodlands of central Cilento region. The hamlets (''frazioni'') with this name are situated in the municipalities of Laurino, Valle dell'Angelo and Piaggine, and are considered a singular village. San Pietro al Tanagro is a village and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-west Italy. Geography San Pietro al Tanagro is 90 kilometers far from Salerno. Polla is a town and ''comune'' of the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-west Italy. In 2011 its population was 5,327. History The area in which the town is located was settled since prehistoric times, as evidenced by finds of bones and ceramic in a nearby cave. Pertosa is a village and ''comune'' of the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-west Italy. In 2010 its population was 714. History Geography The village is situated in the eastern side of the province of Salerno, close to the municipalities of Auletta, Polla and Caggiano and to Alburni mountains. Its only hamlet (''frazione'') is the little village of Muraglione, in which are located the show caves.
